You Can't Build a Church on Kids

This is one time I will agree with you R2D2. We do need to show our Christianity to those we come into contact with at work, etc. Obviously if they aren't saved we need to give them the Gospel. The old saying still holds true: people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. Love is still the only motivating factor that matters.

Love has been the center point of many a cult. Its not all about love. It also has to be about getting it right.

I don't know about everyone else, but christundivided seems to ignore the first part of 1 Cor 13 so that's why he's not on my side.

Good grief, man, are you a legalist?  I already said we need to give them the gospel.  Do you find fault with the gospel?  I know some saved people that have run off more people than they have gotten saved by their hateful, legalistic, holier than thou attitudes.  Yeah, we have to get it right, and love is still the key. Speak the truth in love.

Please.....I didn't personally insult FSSL....and the duct tape was an attest at humor....

Okay.

I know that you don't know what Gods calling is for anyone but you.

I can read the Scriptures and discern just a good as you can. If you can't recognize the divine calling of God on someone..... then why the world are you a pastor?

I also know that you know most people come to Christ as children and teens.....many thru the influence of children and youth leaders.

Silly. People come to Christ because of the intrinsic power of the Gospel.

I will say that many young people make false commitments to "youth leaders". What's more important to you. A false confession or allowing the power the Gospel to change people apart from your "program"?

Do you feel that the people who work our food ministry are called to that endeavor?

Nope. Do you?

Do you feel the volunteers at the homeless shelter are called to that endeavor?

Nope, do you? Mind referencing a verse?

Do you feel that ushers are called?

Nope. Volunteers are fine. Nothing at stack in "ushering".

Nursery volunteers?

Pay attention to that last word.

Seminary professors?

Some may have the gift of teacher. To be called to a certain seminary.... Don't know. Maybe. Maybe not.

Christian School teachers?

Are you saying that a Christian School teacher has a specific function in the Body of Christ? Care to tell us what part of the body that is?

Youre the one so concerned that someone teaching children wasn't properly 'called'....we just have spirit filled volunteers seeking to honor Christ!
I'm surely not as spiritually discerning as you....you know that children's workers everywhere arent called!
I can't top that!

We have five Deacons who were saved thru an old time Bus Ministry.....and each were the first in their families to trust Christ!
Our children and youth ministry are used by the Holy Spirit to bring families into our church and to Christ...even without (according to you) called leaders!

Now, you will have to forgive us for using these ministries to help us do our part in fulfilling the Great Commission.
To paraphrase Jack Hyles...I like the way we do it better than the way some don't do it.....

That's something he can wear as a badge of honor!  :D

I'll tell you a little about how we have achieved reaching parents....entire family units!

We ask our church family to continually invest in the lives of other people and share Christ along the way.
We have outreach ministries to adults in many areas....Celebrate Recovery, Parenting Classes, Men and ladies Bible Studies and adult sports leagues!

We sponsor many Tee Ball, Little League, Intermediate teams in our city league and our men and women coach.
The city assigns our rosters and we pray at practices and games. we always have a end of season celebration with a family cookout, trophies and a Bible message. We get 2-3 families into our church thru this door each year.
We do the same with Soccer, Football in addition to upward basketball.

We have a weekday pre school program thru K5 with about 120 kids. We have programs, ect for the parents always including a challenge from the Bible...2-3 families per year!

We have VBS and invite the Parents to a related activity...again, we average 2 families per year thru VBS.

it is the parent's responsibility to rear their children and we always emphasize that.
we simply try to help, encourage and strengthen families by helping, strengthening and encouraging men, women and young people.

Multiple responses have answered this question, but you are like the bank robber who couldn't find a cop, or one who looks for trees when the forest blocks his view.

Do you feel you were called to make that statement?  :)

<snort>

I used to think I was called to teach/preach, like I'm supposed to be doing tonight and tomorrow at VBS, but now, I'm in a moment of real personal crisis because I've been shown the error of my ways by some super spiritual dude on the internet.

Too bad those kids will not receive preaching and teaching that has been well prepared.
