Ken Schaap and his group starting a church in Cincinnati

But did Spurge on go around brazenly marketing himself and his cohorts as the greatest Bible teachers / expositors around? I don't actually know, maybe he did...hence, my question!

DH  was advertised as the world's youngest youth director.

It runs in the family.

I just read some more on their website. Now, these kids are still in their twenties. And, KS says that Jared Long is one of the most gifted Bible teachers he has ever heard? Oh Puleeze!!!  These kids need to get their heads out of their but-s.
Wasn't Spurgeon in his teens when he started preaching?  ;)

Just 17 days, 12 hours, 5 minutes and 8 seconds to go!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!  I just can't wait for the world wide revival to begin!

A modern day prophecy lol.

Today was the day...wonder how it went?

More importantly, when is Ken going to write the book: "How I started a modern Independent Baptist Church that changed the world {despite having a shlep for a father!}"

According to their websites cuckoo clock they have 5 hours and 28 minutes to go. Maybe they just plan to open the doors at noon and have a Thursday night service.

I haven't posted on the fff in a long time, but I'm back for this one...

Ken Schaap and Team Faithway, of all places, have landed in my backyard. Less than 2 miles from my house. Mason, Ohio - average household income $86 thousand/ year.

Within less than 2 miles of my house are (prior to Team Faithway) 3 existing independent Baptist churches - and numerous churches of other names and denominations.

This geographic region overall has pretty much a gazillion independent Baptist churches. I have spent 36 out of 41 years as church accompanist in independent Baptist churches in this area (the other 5 years, SBC). These IB churches are of varying sizes and effectiveness, but suffice to say, there is no dearth. I am personally close to the family of an 81 year old independent Baptist preacher - whose church is in a much less affluent portion of Cincinnati and who is still pastoring at his age. No gravy train there.

Next (big) point: What sob story or attitude of entitlement has led Ken to go around to existing churches, presenting coming to Mason, Ohio, as something that those members should sacrificially donate to so that he can come here (where he is neither needed nor wanted - yes, that is my opinion) - average household income $86 thousand - to start a "church"? I mean, Mason, Ohio, is not poor starving children on a mission video.

I continue to be completely puzzled by this. (shaking head)

It should be interesting when they show up at my door to ask my whether I know for sure if I die today I will go to heaven.

PS - Their website says (I forget where) first service is tomorrow. The website doesn't tell anyone interested exactly where or when. Not sure what that is about.

From what I understand, they are not starting an IFB church. I could have received misinformation, but I am told it is going to be an all out contemporary, worship and praise style church. Does anyone know?

What happened to their web site?

There hasn't been any activity in a while.

How can they get people excited if they don't have daily updates.

Did something happen to their setup?

It looks like it was today and Cindy came.

It may just be because I am looking on my phone, but all I could see photo wise was an empty room with chairs. Are there any photos with the crowd? For having such a heavy emphasis on their media, just surprised there were no photos of people.

No mention of numbers? Guess that only comes with an earned degree. :-*

Man, they sure don't make pulpits like they used to! :o

Yes they are rather plan now.

I think you misunderstood me. Jack Hyles had that white pulpit and all of his disciples seem to have the same type. Jack S. started with these mammoth fancy pulpits and it seems that his followers have the same type. The one in the pic looked like it was a vintage js model.
Here is link to a real old time pulpit.

Ok I get what you're saying.

That was from a Catholic Church in true Schaap style.

First, allow me to state my credentials. I am an extremely disenfranchised former HACer who was able to escape in 1986 just before the unavoidable implosions. I have since fought through the bitterness of wasting 4 years of my life in a pit of hypocrisy and have landed comfortably between funnymentalism and emergent (maybe even an accursed evangelical). To clarify, I am appalled and disgusted by all things fundamental.
Having said all that now let me say I am also appalled and disgusted by your arrogance about Ken Schaap coming to Cincinnati. On what authority do you hold Cincinnati in such disdain? Yes, the urban area has issues like all other urban areas but it is generally a nice, conservative town and has not experience traumas anything lime Detroit.
And, Jonah, if it is so awful then obviously God has written it off and has no interest in people hearing the gospel.
I am disgusted that Schaap is coming but that is no reason to hate on a city!
