I remember the old stadium. Scared me to death though...it was so high and steep!!
That top section would give you the sensation of falling forward when you looked down.

Once a group of us idiots went to the top row, and "did the hokey-pokey" with all the spins, on one leg, etc.
There were 12 of us up there.

Couldn't get me to do that again.

Anishinaabe

Sat in the front row of the highest section, with a toddler!! I did not enjoy that game. Def did not do the hokey pokey!!
I still remember turning to look down, and feeling my knees buckle.  I can't imagine having one of my kids with me, at that age... You can handle anything, if you can survive that.

Y'all are getting sidetracked! I think we need to pass the hat, raise the money for Kenny's landscaping, and volunteer to go out there and install it for him. Who is in?

You are exactly correct! You would install it for him as he would be to busy with pastoral duties to help. I know Kenny

Yeah, so do I...lazy.

Anishinaabe

I read through most of this thread and am not sure I saw where anyone mentions what strikes me as the most obvious error in this whole endeavor...that none of these boys possesses anything resembling real respectable training nor credentials! Would any among us go see a doctor who never trained in a reputable institution but just had some "on the job training" or years of experience at some half-baked clinic?

I know that it is out of fashion to discourage someone who wants to "start a church", but let's face it this is nothing more than a fool's errand. God doesn't need them as badly as they want to think He does.

I take it walking with Jesus isn't enough credential?  Is Ken Schaap unable to walk with Jesus?  I'm not opposed to formal education, but have you ever checked out the education status of the disciples, save Paul?  And even he said, "But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but lost for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.
Your inanity has evoked me out of my peaceful retirement from this place.
Oh. And since when does God need any of us?

The most balanced and studied pastor I've been under was a man that didn't have any bible college.

One of the biggest snope of all time

Educated apostles.

1. Matthew, as a tax collector, most likely spoke three languages. He also had accountant skills.

2. Luke was a physician.

3. John, a devout Jew, likely memorized the whole of the Torah. He was known of the high priest at the beginning trials of Jesus. As well, he authored the most difficult book of the Bible. ( which indicated he also spoke two languages).

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

This criticism was from the elites. Only that they weren't of their ilk. Uneducated meaning, they bought what Jesus was selling. Not just stupid.

4. Phillip said, "We have found Him of whom Moses and the prophets spoke. Well educated and well read.

5. Peter and Andrew, being brothers, were also devout Jews, not ignorant simpletons because of their occupation.

The others almost all were not uneducated or dumb.

Any author in the New Testament was fluent in Greek and and possibly spoke another language.

They might have had some secular knowledge and even knew accounting and business management, but in Spiritual things, their only college was their walk with Jesus.

I cannot believe it! I am actually in full agreement with Jim Jones!

If I can add one more thing, Peter had a very high level of Greek writing skills.

One year of living with Jesus afforded the apostles what would take a lifetime of seminary education, today.

The BEST pastors/teachers are lifetime students.

C.S. Lewis:
"God is no fonder of intellectual slackers than he is of any other slackers. If you are thinking of becoming a Christian, I warn you, you are embarking upon something which is going to take the whole of you, brains and all. But, fortunately, it works the other way round. Anyone who is honestly trying to be a Christian will soon find his intelligence being sharpened: one of the reasons why it needs no special education to be a Christian is that Christianity is an education itself. That is why an uneducated believer like John Bunyan was able to write a book that has astonished the whole world."

(I realize he is talking about being a Christian, not being a pastor...I just thought it was an interesting quote that was somewhat germane to the thread)

Clearly, they had formal education.

They were mocked, just like here on the FFF.

But they certainly had formal training.

Add to that a spiritual understanding of who the real Messiah was in Jesus.

2.  Wishing Lapina would leave soon.  At the beginning of all this, I kind of felt sorry for him with the burden of the church and finances on him.  Then the true stories of his scheeming started coming out.  Don't trust him.  His rein is over and it's time for him to leave.
Agreed

3.  Pastor Wilkerson needs to clean the houses of his church.  Time to get rid of the dead weight of the people who have ridden on the coat tales of the church for many years.  Won't name names but there are many people that need to go.  Time for him to bring in his own people and staff.  I had heard that one of his staff members from CA wouldn't come unless EL was gone.

While I am for Pastor Wilkeron "cleaning house" (leadership that supported Hyles and/or Schaap needs to GO), I am opposed to him bringing people from CA to the church.  I thought that the Scriptures tell us that God puts the people into a church who should be there.  Make staff out of current attendees, don't bring in outsiders.

The alleged staff members from CA who allegedly would not come, did and from his spirit does not seem the type to make this kind of declaration.

Pics from the new building from the purchase to the move in.

They paid cash for this building, no debt.

What kind of church is this?  anyone surprised?

Is that huge wooden table a pulpit or a piano?

I think it came out very nice.

Glad to see them doing the work themselves and no debt, you gotta love that.

What's with the glowing blue lights behind the singers?
