Trump and Tariffs

Actually, America is waking up. But I don't remember you posting any dire economic warnings regarding Biden's policies, and his were the ones hurting everyone except the elites. 🧐
It’s gonna be the same under Trump.

I don’t care about Biden he wasn’t the actual president any way.

I didn’t vote for Biden I voted for Trump.

The Mounties just seized $83M with of cocaine that came to Toronto through the U.S.:

"These drugs travelled all the way from Mexico, over the United States' southern border, then made their way here to Canada, where we stopped and seized them," he said at Tuesday's news conference.

Golly. If Trump can't tighten the security on your northern border, we might have to slap some pretty hefty tariffs on you guys. Maybe even make you the 11th province.
Were the drugs labeled with a country of orgin sticker. How do they know they came from Mexico?

We do need to tighen the border (northern and southern) but the idea that we will catch everything is unlikely.

We do need to work everything out fast between Canada and the US and get back to fair free trade. We import a lot of energy, autos and auto parts, lumber and machine tools from Canada. We equally ship autos & auto parts, some lumber products and machinery and equipment. It's in both countries best interest for us to continue to freely trade with each other without additional tariffs and trade restrictions.

Close your borders. Who cares? The U.S. is not dependant upon Canada.

But the blame for your drug epidemic goes to Biden et al.

Savvy? 🧐
Looks like I'm the one that didn't 'savvy.'

As noted, Trudeau suggested that the northern border is already safe and secure, but what are the facts?
In an article posted by CBC News on September 12, 2024, there are many quotations from Canadian officials, and they describe a problem that is spiraling out of control. Kelly Sundberg, of Mount Royal University stated:
“I hate to admit it, but I think that Donald Trump is right on this, that there is a need to focus north.”
Sundberg added:
“The Americans are well aware that Canada’s capacity to screen people is really limited, if at all even existent. I mean, we do screen, kind of, but we don’t do a proficient or effective job. The Americans are well aware of this, so they can’t trust our system.”
Despite the weaknesses in their ability to detect illegal crossings, our Canadian neighbors discovered 19,498 migrant crossings to the USA between October 2023 and July 2024 -- twice as many as in the previous year. But that is probably the tip of an iceberg.
...
The northern border was described this way in an article in Newsday:
“No fence. No barricade.... The U.S.-Canada border is the longest in the world at 5,525 miles -- more than twice as long as the border with Mexico -- and it's pretty porous.”
For that reason, the serious criminals -- drug runners, cartel operatives, sex traffickers, terrorists -- are starting to cross into the USA from the north. Those criminals don’t want to be detected, so they are not in the official statistics.

Trump invoked the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China starting on Feb. 1 over the countries’ roles in facilitating the influx of illicit fentanyl as well as illegal immigrants into the United States.
...
There are two major drug cartels in Mexico that flood the United States with fentanyl, fueling the worst drug crisis in American history.
CBP data showed that in fiscal year 2024, officials seized 21,148 pounds of fentanyl at the U.S. Southwest border—which is “enough to kill 4.8 billion people,” the White House said.
While not as large as Mexico’s drug trafficking, there’s a growing amount of fentanyl being smuggled into the United States through Canada as well in recent years.
The White House said 43 pounds of fentanyl were seized at the northern border last fiscal year, enough to potentially kill 9.8 million Americans.

Were the drugs labeled with a country of orgin sticker. How do they know they came from Mexico?
I would imagine the police have ways of determining a particular drug shipment's point of origin (intelligence, chemical tests, etc.).

Canadas ambassador to America said on Sunday the Canada put 1.3 billion toward their boarder bc Trump asked them to do something about it and they did end of last year.

She said she doesn’t know what Trump is talking about.
