I personally don’t listen to only one side I listen to both sides and do my best to be open minded and try to understand.

It’s my understanding that the tariffs that Trump is talking about if implemented will hurt the common man. The reason is that if he raises the tariffs the extra cost will be passsed on to the consumer.

For example, minimum wage being raised gets passed to the consumer.

It makes sense that if tariffs are raised that it will be passed to the consumer.

I’ve learned what Trump says and what he actually does can be two very different things. Trump is a talker, and I don’t trust his “talk,” but I trust his actions. I think right now he’s trying to put a good fear level into other countries by making threats of tariffs, but I think that’s all it is, just scare tactics.

Actually, what has hurt 'the common man' was for the U.S. to allow him to become dependent upon foreign powers for goods and services. You have your lib friends to thank for that. If he weren't dependent, he wouldn't feel any kind of tariff. You have your lib friends to thank for that. But the answer isn't to allow the U.S. to be blackmailed into submission.

Bauer noted western dependencies on supplies from China, with 60% of all rare earth materials produced and 90% processed there. He said chemical ingredients for sedatives, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and low blood pressure medicines were also coming from China.
"We are naive if we think the Communist Party will never use that power. Business leaders in Europe and America need to realise that the commercial decisions they make have strategic consequences for the security of their nation," Bauer stressed.

I didn’t ask how we got here. I’m asking if the tariffs increase will the increase be passed to the consumer????

If so? How is this good for the average American??

First, the relief from the assaults for which they're being imposed; and second, it will wake them the 😶 up.

Savvy?🧐

Posturing.

"Leverage: don't make deals without it."--D.J. Trump

No offense taken. And thank you. Admittedly I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed :-) I’m old. Enough to be ok with that.

I’m sorry, can someone explain to me what just happened with Canada.

Does Trump care about this being passed on to the consumer? Oh what about not taxing overtime?

I’m not convinced Trump is for the average person.

The Mounties just seized $83M with of cocaine that came to Toronto through the U.S.:

"These drugs travelled all the way from Mexico, over the United States' southern border, then made their way here to Canada, where we stopped and seized them," he said at Tuesday's news conference.

Golly. If Trump can't tighten the security on your northern border, we might have to slap some pretty hefty tariffs on you guys. Maybe even make you the 11th province.

I’m hoping Trump’s mindset is something like “short term pain for long term gains,” because I think we’re going to have consumers hurting in the wallet for a couple years.

Close your borders. Who cares? The U.S. is not dependant upon Canada.

But the blame for your drug epidemic goes to Biden et al.

Savvy? 🧐

If what Canada said was true (and I’ve heard yet from Trump saying he was lying) less than 1% of the drugs come from Canada.

So what on Gods green earth is Trump talking about??

The tariffs will hurt our pocket book, not Trump and his family or Elons or Bezos or Zuckerberg. You know those guys right? Those are the billionaires Trump had front and center at his inauguration.

Elon gave $250 million to Trumps campaign. You don’t become a billionaire by not expecting a return on the money you invest in a presidential campaign.

Oh! What about promises made promises kept?? Not to the 1% behind closed doors but to us the average American by not taxing our overtime. Make an executive order that benefits the working class!! Oh wait, does that have to be voted on? Maybe? But definitely not hearing anything from Trump or his people talking about this.

Oh wait!! The tariffs were supposed to be a negotiating, leverage???? I’m confused.

Kinda like, trickle down economics? Good ole Reaganomics that ushered in the corporate take over and Trump following suit.

I don’t buy it. None of this “short term pain for long term gains” affects Trump paying his bills or buying groceries type stuff.

They always want us to sacrifice but never themselves.

They are awake!
Actually, America is waking up. But I don't remember you posting any dire economic warnings regarding Biden's policies, and his were the ones hurting everyone except the elites. 🧐

Manufactures and retailers do not have to pass the cost on and in some cases if the US version is competetive they may not be able to raise the price. The idea is for the us companies to source their raw materials domestically (steel, oil, chemicals, wood, plastic, auto parts, computer chips) or to move their manufacturing home or to a low tariff trading partner.

Many believe the new tariffs will not last long. They also believe he will leave some targeted tariffs in place to protect our domestic industries

And with the increase of tariffs the companies that are now making an increased profit of 25% will then lower their profit back to original price??

You have more faith in mankind then I do.
