people who have served on sailing ships and worked aloft on square riggers say master and commander was the most technically and historically correct movie about seamanship in that time period ever made.... (a few members of my family are among them - plus a few guys from down at the dive barge).... ...i think we saw the movie at least 5 times when it was still in the theaters... and we have all the dvd versions of it that came out too... . the directors cut with deleted scenes and out takes is really cool......

I got used to warm winters without snow. Pittsburgh reality is smacking in the face. Though we COULD be getting what Erie gets. Can't wait for spring!

i have had my vintage navy ww2 submarine blanket on my bed for several weeks now...... our night time temperatures drop this time of year and i get really cold at night..🥶 ... but it;s still a lot warmer than any night time temperature on the mainland... ..even the places there that people consider far south......... .i would tell you how cold it has actually been here but you would just laugh at me..... :cautious:. ..one characteristic of being acclimated to the tropics ... (the true tropics).... is a having a much more narrow range of temperature tolerance than people who live in places farther north ... (or farther south if you live south of the equator).... but then it also gives you the ability to handle extremely hot temperatures that gives northerners a heat stroke..... 🥵...

Probably not. If it does, it'll probably not be in a good way.

I'm not trying to dis the new administration... I am more hopeful about it than the previous one, but nothing that happens in DC will ultimately change hearts. That is the change we need.

If DOGE gets rid of the NEA and National Endowment for the arts, it will be yuge.
