The Hacker Thread about Absolutely Nothing Particular!

Oh, they will.  Local commentator said Tim Duncan is the best player to ever play the game, and it will go to 7, and the Spurs will dominate game 7.  I tend to agree.

I would not agree that Duncan is the best player to ever play.  Give me Labron, Jordan, Magic, and Bird.  I will say that Duncan is probably the best power forward to ever play.  I might get an argument from Dirk, KG, Barkley, or Karl Malone.  :)

Spurs take a 3 -2 lead heading to Miami.  I'm seeing a 7 game series.

Is that seeing, as in prophetic vision?  Or are you just making an educated guess.  I gotta ask, knowing your hacker tendencies and all.

Yeah, you answer after the fact. Typical HACKER!

When my  wife and I retired to Mexico, we joined a good, Godly Baptist church. In our first thriteen months, the church had thriteen baptisms. The pastor left, and a small group of people who named themselves "The Pulpit Committee" s;eized the church. They forbad any search for a pastor, looted the church treasury, and took the church from 120 to 30 in one year.

Disgusted, my wife and I started attending a strongly fundamental, soul-winning Assemblies of God church. The church has grown from 12 to 100 in five years. We have Vacation Bible School among Indians tribes. In an hour, I will be picking up kids for a neighborhood Bible study. I ran a "caravan" route for five years, running in the twenties. When the pastor is gone, I teach the mid-week Bible study. We're not charismatics and have no intention of becoming charismatics, but God is blessing us here.

Where are you in Mexico?  (I am not charismatic either but I love Jimmy Swaggart! Don't tell anyone.)

Balaam, if you find Guadalajara on a map, you'll see a small oval nearby. That's Lake Chapala, and I live within walking distance of it. The lake is surrounded by "The Gringo Zone," the largest collection of Americans in the world outside the US. The Baptist church has straightened out, but the pastor is a hyper-Calvinist. The Presbyterian church is fundamental but not Calvinist. The Assemblies of God church is the soul-wining church of the bunch, and this morning we had twenty Mexican kids in our neighborhood Bible study. Little Chapel has gone through some bad times, but they have a new pastor who has gotten them back into the twenties.

There is a fundamental Mexican Bapticostal church whose pastor is a genuine God-loving saint, but his services are all in Spanish. There are two Anglican churches: one is controlled by homosexuals and the other is straight, and they both reject God's Word. There are four Christian orphanages, and I volunteer at two of them.

If you're thinking of retiring down here (I have no idea how old you are) there are plenty of opportunities to serve.

Age has little to do with retirement these days. I will work until I can't any longer. I know people from Guadaljara, Celaya, and have been North of you quite a few times in Sonora.

Balaam, have you done missions work in Mexico?

No, I haven't. But that was kind of my intention when I decided to go to hac. Unfortunately, life kind of happens and I was never able to accomplish that.

I have a relative who owns some condos in San Carlos, Sonora. The are right on the Sea of Cortez and we have stayed there several times.

Balaam, the next time you come south of the border, let me know, and we'll see if we can work something out. Tell your relatives I said "Hola!"

No, I predicted it BEFORE the fact.

BAPTIST REBELLION VS. PENTECOSTAL REBELLION

When Baptist rebel, they usually gather a following, go to the leadership, and threaten to split the church if they don't get their way. Then they pretend that the leadership is backing them.

When a Pentecostal rebels, she will announce that God has told her to seize authority, go to the scene, take charge, preach that the person in charge is in rebellion against God, and organize people to support her.

I've got to say this, X-Files, that's the most interesting sermon I've heard in a long time. He ain't no Jack Hyles, but if I had been there, I wouldn't have had any trouble keeping my mind from wandering.

I have observed over the decades that if a preacher is interesting, his church will probably grow, because people get tired of boring churches.

That would definitely have been an interesting church service.

If you had submitted to me!  Standard ifb fare.  I am in the place of God just like the pope and you need to submit to me.
