You can judge the greatness of a MOG by how many microphones he has kicked over during the sermon.

That's a troubling thought. With the hand held microphone craze going on they just don't have mike stands like they used to have.Oh Good night, What's this world coming to?

Even the liberal IFB's know they still have to comply to this standard of greatness.  That's why they will occasionally dislodge the transmitter pack from their belt!  Stinkin' liberuls with their non-corded mics! ;D

My feelings exactly! Bunch of compromisers who are now just like the evangelicals and southern baptists!!  By the way: Can someone give me a good meaning for the term "evangelical?"

Evangelical:  Someone who quit kicking over mic stands and has become a stinkin', wrap-around-the-front-of-your-face-like-a-rock-singer, flesh colored microphone.  They sip pink tea and quit wearing ties with a full windsor knot.

I'll take the OLD PATHS!!!  Give me a creaky-old gooseneck like the great MOGs of yesteryear!  Well, don't go so far back that they didn't have microphone stands - we need those to demonstrate our zeal for the Lord.

And of course, they can still put the stands out on the platform. They don't need to have mikes on them. They'll kick over just as easy.

Exactly! 8)

Of course, if you don't have a security team, your a MOG wannabe.

We weren't allowed to criticize, but we had a joke at HAC back then.

What's the difference between a fundamentalist and an evangelical?

A fundamentalist isn't ashamed of Christ.

No, it isn't true. But back then, the evangelicals were ripping into the fundamentalists for their lack of love and were striving to get along with the wicked.

The OLD PATHS?????

Wesley, Finney, Moody didn't need no stinkin' microphones!  They had the power, bless God!

(Chugger, the poor grammar used above is for effect.  Please don't judge me for it.)

Wesley, Finney, Moody!?!  Stinkin' Libuhra-a-ls!  Not even Independent Fundamental Baptist!  They relied on a production, not a power!  I know because they didn't kick over any microphone stands! 8)

Microphones!

They were good enough for the Apostle Paul, and they're good enough for me!

I seriously wonder how many people in ifb circles who quote Spurgeon, publish his sermons, read his sermons, and repreach his sermons would actually have Spurgeon preach for them?  Do a little research on Spurgeon and then answer. And I don't mean because he was a little more Calvinistic than most of the ifb folks.

I just heard or read something to the effect that Spurgeon said that there was nothing wrong with drinking a mug of beer because it helped you to sleep and when you are asleep you are not sinning. Or something like that.

¿Is anybody besides me using a MexiÇan keyboard? ¡They're pretty ñeat!

My husband and I used to be missionaries in Sonora.  I had a Spanish keyboard there and loved it!

¡Caramba, Señora! My problem is that I've been here for eight years and still can't speak Spanish. And my next question: Were you in the Sonora Baptist Convention? What happened was that several independent and Southern Baptist churches were forced to organize for legal purposes. The SBC churches were legally independent and were not allowed to send delegates to Convention meetings, plus they were strongly fundamental.

Where in Sonora? I have been to Hermosillo, Empalme, San Carlos, Guaymas,  and a lot of other places. Love that place!

¡Oh Man, we're gonna have the first-ever South of the Border HAC reunión! Incidentally, Bob Murillo, a HAC grad, has a successful orphanage in Guadalajara.

No, we were independent Baptists associated with the Instituto Practico Ebenezer in Hermosillo, Sonora for 11 years till my husband had a massive heart attack and his health forced him stateside.

Wow!  We lived in Hermosillo for eight years and taught at the Ebenezer Bible Institute there while planting a church in  a village about an hour away called Calle Doce.  Then we moved to a tiny village called El Triunfo and lived there three years.  I have also been to Guaymas.  =)

Rebecca, please tell your husband that we get American missionaries down here who stay for two years, produce little or nothing, and go around ripping into the people who are succeeding. And then, at La Ola Orphanage, most of the missionaries are successful, but they are caring for orphans, not church-planting.

You and your husband both have very impressive records.

They tell me that Guaymas used to be the Shrimp capital of the World! The last time we were there which was about 7 years ago all the shrimp had disappeared. So many of the boats and captains lost all of their income. I could tell you a lot of stories about
San Carlos and Guaymas.
