The Lake
The frog-pond-like mini lake on HAC campus.

My favorite summertime event happens there...fireworks a week or 2 after the 4th.
Anyone here ever stay for the summer, and go to the picnic?

So many memories!

Anishinaabe

OF COURSE!  Every year!  but you knew that.

The Lake

The place I learned to:

+ ice skate
+ avoid the geese at all cost
+ watch your step
+ laugh at HACkers
+ shoot potato cannons at HAC security cruises

Usually surrounded by a mixed multitude of Domestic/Wild Geese.
1st Canoe ride, was on this 'lake'.

I will say that when one first visits the HAC campus the lake is very beautiful and impressive.

This is a very helpful and useful addition to the thread. Are you sure you didn't use to teach at Hyles-Anderson in the 90's?

The Lake

A large retaining pond on the campus of HAC originally utilized as a sewage drainage.  A fountain runs with some regularity to prevent algae buildup and freezing pipes.  Though the entire lakefront is covered with goose, duck and seagull feces, it is still revered as a beautifully romantic haven for the students and staff.  After all, what is romance without the squishing of fresh and kicking of old goose poop?

The Lake

A definite stop for any tourist of the IFB.  This very lake is the exact location of the first utilized "Safe Bench."  These normal benches had a center piece built into them which prevented any HACkers from inadvertently holding hands, touching or otherwise engaging in such promiscuous behavior.  The number of pregnancies out of wedlock has greatly declined since the institution of the "Safe Bench."

"Safe Bench"
If you are going to forego abstinence of nearness and sit on a bench - have a "Safe Bench"

BCH, I think Tom may have been referring to the word "smallwer" in your first post.  Also, I appreciate the word "e90's" in your second post.  BCH, you stinkin' Hacker!!!!

HAC Super Bowl

The HAC Super Bowl was the culmination of the men's flag football season.  The playoffs took place and the final 2 teams stood ready.  There were Super Bowl chapel skits.  Team signs filled the hallway walls.  You could feel the excitement in the air.

Classes were cancelled and all students were required to attend.  Most of the time it was very chilly.  It was always fun to watch true, blue Hackers that hated sports suffer throught the game.

While we look back and laugh now, I will say that HAC did it up in a big way.  There were cheerleaders, a band, announcers, and any other thing they could think of to make it a big game.
