Wild Bill - 90's.  I believe he was reached through the sailor ministry.  He came to HAC and got overly dedicated to everything.  Poor guy couldn't stay awake any time he sat down.  Just overworked.  He was best known for his seeming Amen contests with Troy Blackwell.

Sounds like a Hacker's Hacker.  :)

Raider, knowing you, (even though I don't know you), you would have loved him. He patented the 'Well, Glooooooorraaay!' while waving his classic note KJV (you know, the one with the blank page in between every other page). When I would find him to sit with him in the dining hall he would look up at me through his taped up glasses and smile, and softly say, 'Why, hello Brother Tom.'

One time, just to see if he was genuine, I dumped a bucket of cold water over the curtain while he was in the shower. Yep, he shouted, 'Well, gloooooorraayyyy!'

:D

He was all hacker, but in a sweet, genuine way.

Sailor Ministry

Where the liberals who were too liberal for the Bible Clubs went to fulfill their ministry requirement.

For three years, way off at the end, in a two man room with Dave Champagne. I avoided the rest of the floor like the plague. Buncha' immature clowns, mostly. And I worked a lot.

Sailor Ministry

A ministry that actually ministered.  Met physical needs.  Presented the Gospel.  Discipled converts.  Had many disciples go into ministry as a profession or as a layman.

Sailor Ministry

Human Torpedo
World Wide Thumbwrestling Federation
Bus Rugby
Home cooked food
Sports
Soul winning
Bus preaching against "Night Bus Preaching"
Discipleship
Only pressure from leadership was to "give what time you could"

yep.  I enjoyed it.

We were so stinkin' liberal, the Bus route and Bible club cronies did not even include us in their fights for the title "Most Right With God."  8)

Spent a year+ there...Should have stayed, though I learned much from the bus ministry.  Bro. Hooker was and is still a genuine Christian.

Peddler's Way

Peddler's Way was the gift/book/snack shop located in the lower level at HAC.  It was a welcome sight when you missed breakfast and needed a sugar high.

I wonder if Peddler's Way is still at HAC?
