HAC Super Bowl

The day I absolutely dreaded each year. >:(

Most of the female students did.  :)
I would rather have been sitting at the feet of Phil Pins learning the finer points of Greek! 8)

HAC Super Bowl

...the only thing, besides 20 a hours a weekend in the bus ministry, necessary for that famously elusive ministry concept of balance. Well, maybe the Super Bowl plus the Valentine's Banquet...

I'm not preaching now, I'm telling the truth. That might have been my favorite class at HAC. Not b/c I learned much Greek, but b/c we goofed off so much...

A humanised, fundy version of Amen.  This statement is shouted in a service by the HACker as a means of self-glorification.  This statement must never be used out of context, else it would lose its effectiveness.  Proper timing is essential.  When the preacher begins to passionately preach against another's sin, the HACker will use this term to prod the preacher to continue in said direction.  This way, everyone in the auditorium knows that the said sin is not his.

Sailor Ministry

Where I learned a new perspective.

I used to chuckle at Wild Bill for his ability to sleep through a service, but still shout AMEN!  Wild Bill was a HACker among HACkers.  Then I watched and listen to him witness to a group of sailors outside the base.  Wild Bill spoke for 25 minutes without missing a beat.  He kept the entire group engaged, answered every question.  During the whole conversation, I don't think Wild Bill completed a single sentence without quoting Scripture.  When finished, he did not press for a decision or prayer, but allowed each sailor to make a decision.  Some accepted Christ, some did not.

I was amazed and convicted.  I had never seen anything like that before.  I thought - that is what soul winning is supposed to be.  Nearly 20 years later, I still look at that day as a pattern for soul winning.

Wild Bill - That stinkin' HACker taught me something!

Thanks for sharing!  I believe the Sailor Ministry began while i was a student at HAC.  Larry Boulard (sp?) was in charge.  Who was Wild Bill and what year was he around?

Wild Bill - 90's.  I believe he was reached through the sailor ministry.  He came to HAC and got overly dedicated to everything.  Poor guy couldn't stay awake any time he sat down.  Just overworked.  He was best known for his seeming Amen contests with Troy Blackwell.
