Memory Lane

Who is buried in the mausoleum???:
Dr. Hyles
Dr. Hyles' mom
Dr. Hyles' dad
Dr. Hyles' grandson
Mrs. Evans

Am I wrong on any of these?  Who else?

Do any of the Hyles children & grandchildren have plots there?

Do you think any will choose to be buried there when their life here is over?

It seems like there are more people buried in the mausoleum that we all would know.  It has been several years since I was there.

Wow - I can't believe I didn't jump in on this earlier.  I have now read through the whole thread.  I will withhold my comments on the earlier terms, but eagerly await the next term to define.

Post on, Raider, my Captain, O Captain!

You are officially a member of the Dead Hacker's Society!

Does this mean I get to go to....

Memory Lane!

Mrs. Evans donated her body to science, so her body is not there.

Matt Richards used to post on the old forum.  His mom is there.  She was a sweet lady who loved her kids and whose kids absolutely loved her.

Is Joe Boyd there?

Split Chapel
Possibly the biggest let down of the year, depending on who is talking, and what it's about.

If Miss Belinda is chatting up her gals, and we are stuck with whoever's turn it was in the guy's assembly, and he has to come up with something relevant....

You think you're gonna hear someone preach on manhood, chivalry, something not approved for 'mixed company', whatever that means; And instead we find out that only guys, whose shoe shine would pass a whiteglove inspection, are gonna get to serve in the millennium.

I think my husband has told me that Jeff Owens taught that your belt buckle should match your watchband...

Where we were warned against certain actions that would cause you to get pregnant out of wedlock.  The lessons were very graphic and detailed.  The list was, of course:

- holding hands with the opposite gender
- wearing a skirt that showed the knee
- leaving your bus route early
- going on activities rather than bus routes
- having a conversation with a member of the opposite gender without a third person within earshod

...and other such perverted acts of desperately wicked people.  Any of these actions would surely find you with child.

Split Chapel

Periodically at HAC they would announce Split Chapel for the guys and gals.  The gals would usually meet in the college chapel.  The guys would meet in the gymnasium.  I'm not sure what the gal's meeting was like, but if you were a guy you hated the thought of Split Chapel.  You never knew it you would be one of the chosen to get "dealt" with.

True story. I decided to take my family to visit HAC last year. We made an outing of it with plans to spend time around the lake, picnic lunch, etc. We showed up in time for chapel only to discover that this particular day was split chapel...

<facepalm>

...they haven't improved.  :o
