The sentencing is the justice - not prison rape or assault. I am no Jack Schaap fan, but wishing for anyone to be abused in prison by the crime of rape is appalling and frankly not Christlike at all. In America, we have a justice system that works and hoping he is raped is condoning a crime more heinous than the one he was convicted of in the first place.

I read an article that stated nationally the average sentence for 1st degree murder was 20-30 years. Average for 2nd degree was 10 -20 years. Average for rape was 10 - 15 years with some getting as little as 2-3 yrs.

If this data is correct, 10 years seems like a little extream. Does anyone know how much the judge is allowed to reduce the 10 yr sentance if he chooses to?

I know a guy who was a Christians school teacher/youth pastor that was arrested for his sexual relationship with a 15-16 year old girl. They gave him a minimum of six or eight years (can't remember which). The court in NC did not consider his case to be the same as other statutory rapes because of the position of authority he held over the girl. Because of his position, the court went much harder on him. My point is that Schaap's case may not be comparable to other statutory rape cases because of the position he held.

That being said, the guy I knew did not plead guilty like Schaap did. I'm not sure how the plea will affect sentencing.

It is un-Christian.

Does his ungodliness give us the right to be Un-Christian.

Look at it this way - if your child committed a crime and was sent to jail, how would you feel if while he was serving his time, he was sexually assaulted? Raped? Forcibly sodomized? Rape is a crime as a violation of the Indiana Department of Corrections rulebook. The act of consensual sodomy in prison is against the rules as well. More than anything, it is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord which should make it an abomination in the eyes of believers as well.

I state again, I am no Schaap fan - in fact, the last few times I saw him out and about in the NW Indiana area, I did not greet him or bother to speak to him.  However I do wish him, nor any person the ill will of a violent rape, even if they committed a crime themselves. I do not hate JS and to be honest, I do not give him any thoght at all, until I read on the internet someone hoping and praying for his rape, or being on knees in prison and not praying, or being his cellmate Bubba's girlfriend etc. And to be honest, it sickens me. I do not think we should wish it on anyone. I am shocked that any Christian would hope for that no matter what the person they are wishing it on did wrong.

If the justice system "works," why would a prison inmate be subject to sexual assault by other prisoners?  Shouldn't the guards (who are part of the justice system, after all) be watching out for that kind of thing?

Oba 1:12  But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

Pro 24:17  Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

Eze 25:6  For thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast clapped thine hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all thy despite against the land of Israel; Behold, therefore I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the heathen; and I will cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

Don't forget that the Christian is just as much a child of God as Israel.  Guilty.  Punished.  Loved.  Redeemed.  A remnant remains.  Many Christians have responded to this case with pride in the gall of bitterness, which is opposite of the command to restore in the spirit of meekness.  When God breaks a non-responsive Christian, it is not so that other Christians can scorn, but that the individual will repent and worship God.  The breaking is for God's good, for God's glory - not the glory of self-righteous Christians hoping to find some self-vindication and see suffering as Edom did to Isreal.  God makes clear His response to this scorning of His broken children.

The same way it works on the street. The police try to be proactive, but mostly end up being reactive in the efforts to thwart crime. Correctional officers and police officers can't be everywhere at all times.

Jack S. isn't my brother, or my enemy, or Israel.

Should there be *ANY* group or individual that you actually want to be prison raped?

Well said, aleshanee.  Indeed, to forgive and to trust are two very different things.

I agree 150%!! There are 3 people in my life that I have forgiven for some horrible hurts, but I refuse to put myself or my family any where  near the caustic zone that surrounds the 3 of them at all times. The hurts they dish out are deadly poison to anyone that comes into contact with them.
