It is NOT a sin for any woman to wear a pair of pants. What a crazy belief.

Yep, we did and do.  What's your point?  "Let's make sure we live so everyone knows it!"

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

See your good works not your dresses

So as long as a Christian woman is doing good works, a string bikini becomes acceptable?

Oh the desperation....

Depends on where. On the beach, working as a lifeguard maybe? Sure!

I guess the popularity of this thread is indicative of how big of an issue this subject is. It most likely will never get resolved. I can't control how anyone dresses, only lead and influence my family as I feel led to. As a man, I hate having to have to have my mental defenses up wherever I go, but I have to live with it. I'm sure that women have to curb their imagination too, just in a different manner. Ladies probably fantasize more about a man being romantic than the physical part, even though that would probably be in there somewhere. Gals, feel free to correct me. Whereas men see the shape and automatically are tempted to think about something else. As christians, we're supposed to be sensitive to the weaknesses of others. I believe this could be one of those things.

I didn't think they were appropriate lifeguard attire. I hear that when Baywatch was on that even those one-piece suits were not what Los Angeles Lifeguards wore in real life - not sure about Hawaii Lifeguards though. They may wear a 2-piece but not a string bikini.

I agree.  Not a sin...

....the Bible word is abomination

Course, since Top don't agree, God must be wrong.  Oh the arrogance....

Would you allow a pants wearing woman teach Sunday School?

Would you allow a man in a dress to teach Sunday School?

Well, it's pretty hard to argue with that kind of logic.

Apparently Mick changed his name to Frag. So the denbate is over.

ROFLOL!

That's why these oft-repeated debates don't really get old.  Great humor lies in these threads.  LOL

Anyway, people who wear skin tight jeans will also find skin-tight skirts, so the same thing can apply. I sometimes wonder if certain churches and groups don't create even more of a problem with looking for "shapes" that wouldn't otherwise be noticed, because of how much it is talked about. I never noticed the whole "arrow effect" with jeans and pants before seeing an illustration of it during a sermon on modesty, but I found myself noticing it after that.

Would you please explain this "arrow effect" thingy to me so I know what I'm not supposed to notice? ;)

It struck me earlier in the thread as Frag waxes at such length, passion and dogma I Wondered if he takes as serious the verses in the bible and preaches as often about helping the poor, the widows and the orphans. No doubt he will say he does but does anyone else wonder?

I assume Frag preaches and teaches the whole counsel of God.  That is what he is supposed to do.

Of course he would never major on the minors.....or the nevers.  :)

What he posts on here is probably not taught to his congregation as much or as often if at all.

Supposedly, the shape of pants forms an arrow pointing up to the crotch, but the fabric in a skirt does not. I've seen a couple illustrated versions, usually showing the upside-down V shape formed by the legs as an arrow pointing up, but one of them claimed the arrow was made by the outline where the legs and trunk came together (if you have defined lines there, your pants are way too tight).

I just assumed it was more common than it seems to be, because I've joked about it with others who were raised similar to me and most of us had either seen one of the pics or heard it used as a sermon illustration. The whole effect is just as present when a man wears pants, but some people seem to forget or overlook that women can be pretty visual too. That said, it stuck with me enough that I still try to wear tops that are long enough to cover that whole area when I do wear pants because I now have the image burned into my head.

If that is the case shouldn't men be concerned about women looking at um their crotches?

Were not breeches worn by the men in the Bible?  And breeches are undergarments I suppose.???? And women should not wear that which pertains to a man.  Therefore women should not wear undergarments either!!

oh the silly logic in all this!  ::) ::)

No where does it say that breeches are only for men. It only says they were for the priest to cover his nakedness when he went up to make an offering. The purpose of breeches was to cover nakedness.

Maybe not. But my point still stands. Whatever lifeguards at particular beaches wear, it's perfectly fine in a socially appropriate setting.

Why, yes. That is a concern that can equally apply to both genders.

It seems to me that most fundamentalists do not think a beach with people in bathing suits is a socially appropriate setting.

*why, oh why, oh why, am I posting in this thread.....?*

Fundamentalists of that ilk can do or where whatever they want - I won't make fun of them. I just don't want them forcing their opinions on others especially those outside their church or churches they fellowship with.

Final thoughts on THIS, the first "pants on women" thread of this new forum:

1.  This thread would have died after 2 pages if it wasn't for THE FRAG!
2.  Once again, my masterful answers and logic left the opposition in fetal position, whimpering like a baby...
3.  God still thinks it is an abomination, no matter what you liberals think.
4.  I PROMISE, not to rub in the fact that I WAS RIGHT about this, at the judgement seat.
5.  Culottes ROCK!!!
6.  Rock music made women start wearing pants ( don't believe this, but it was one of the DUMBEST things posted on this tread).
7.  Decide whether you will spend your life picking between good and evil, or better or best.
8.  Thank God femininity still lives!!!  A hat tip to the LADIES who have not surrendered to the culture....
9.  Whatever you wear (within reason), go soul winning this weekend.
10.  Do you have a verse to address the over 1 million men who wear a dress or skirt in America every week?  (not half a verse, but a verse)

Blessings..... ;)
