It is NOT a sin for any woman to wear a pair of pants. What a crazy belief.

Were not breeches worn by the men in the Bible?  And breeches are undergarments I suppose.???? And women should not wear that which pertains to a man.  Therefore women should not wear undergarments either!!

oh the silly logic in all this!  ::) ::)

No where does it say that breeches are only for men. It only says they were for the priest to cover his nakedness when he went up to make an offering. The purpose of breeches was to cover nakedness.

Hmmm.... Breeches were for the priest....  The priest were men..... (not being a pastor I cold be wrong on female priests in the Bible, no?)  Therefore breeches would most likely be for men.....

Once again the silly logic of it all...

The breeches described and prescribed were for males only, of the tribe of Levi, and only for those of them who were acting as priests. They were not external garb, but worn under the priestly vestments. They didn't much resemble trousers. They were a lot more like Mormon "magic underwear".

A reminder: Instructions to the Levites were specifically to the Levites, and did not/do not pertain to anyone else.

Final thoughts on THIS, the first "pants on women" thread of this new forum:

1.  This thread would have died after 2 pages if it wasn't for THE FRAG!
2.  Once again, my masterful answers and logic left the opposition in fetal position, whimpering like a baby...
3.  God still thinks it is an abomination, no matter what you liberals think.
4.  I PROMISE, not to rub in the fact that I WAS RIGHT about this, at the judgement seat.
5.  Culottes ROCK!!!
6.  Rock music made women start wearing pants ( don't believe this, but it was one of the DUMBEST things posted on this tread).
7.  Decide whether you will spend your life picking between good and evil, or better or best.
8.  Thank God femininity still lives!!!  A hat tip to the LADIES who have not surrendered to the culture....
9.  Whatever you wear (within reason), go soul winning this weekend.
10.  Do you have a verse to address the over 1 million men who wear a dress or skirt in America every week?  (not half a verse, but a verse)

Blessings..... ;)

Not all women wear pants because of the culture. Some wear them because they are more comfortable in them just as some are more comfortable in a skirt. Every woman is different. Not all women are like Frag's grandmother.  What about those woman who gave into the culture by wearing skirts that show the ankles - In Bible times God's people (the women any ways) wore clothes that went to their feet - they wouldn't think of making clothes that showed the ankle. Even in Western society this was true up until just over 100 years ago. I wonder what their excuse is.  Do they think that women who didn't show their ankle were extreme or legalist?

Practicality does come into play. Since I've lived in a lot of rough neighborhoods (though not now), the necessity of possibly having to kick butt is always in my mind, and that doesn't work well, at least for me, in any kind of skirt other than a mini skirt. And, well, I do like them, but I'm guessing my X'er friends would rather I wear pants...

They'd probably think you should wear both at the same time - that way you can be modest as well as feminine - although in my opinion a mini-skirt doesn't fit the definition of godly femininity according to the Bible.

Tell me, just for curiosity's sake, how well do you think someone could execute most of these techniques in X'er approved feminine garb? This is Hayashiha Shito-ryu Karate, the style I've trained in most of my life:

Sensei Seiji Nishimura and Shihan Makoto Matsuura Kumite Techniques

P.S.: I do NOT recommend fighting the old guy. ;)

So then:
1. Breeches were for men. (Therefore they pertain to men)
2. More specifically the Levite priests.
3. But definitely not for women.
4. Breeches were undergarments.
5. Women are not to wear that which pertains to a man.

Therefore women should not wear any undergarments???????  :-\ :-X ::) ::)

once again the logic of this issue when carried out makes it all so silly

I can't believe this thread still lives.....it's a dumb thread...and a 'moot point' to most of the 'church world'.  ;D

Maybe it is not so moot as you suggest and thus it continues to live on....

Well it was Top, not some IFBxer like Frag who brought it up on here. It was obviously foremost in his mind for some reason though he never explained why.

My home internet has been offline for 4 days. So I haven't been here.

The first time I come back to this forum, here's one of the first threads I see:

I haven't read a one yet, but in a perverse way, I'm kinda looking forward to it. Welcome back to the FFF.  ::)

What About Women Wearing Pants?
by Brother Potter

For I have not shunned to declare unto you ALL the counsel of God. -Acts 20:27-

And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, AND WEAR OUR OWN APPAREL: -Isaiah 4:1a-

..............................................

"Yeah, but Deuteronomy 22:5 is not repeated in the New Testament"

Wrong. In fact, the New Testament is even more specific. I Timothy 2:9 says,

" . . . that women adorn themselves in modest apparel . . ."

"Apparel" today is a very general term that means "any article of clothing." But did you know that in 1611 the word "apparel" meant "loose, long flowing garment?" Look it up in an old Oxford English Dictionary that has the archaic meanings of words. Furthermore, the Greek word is katastole which is an EXACTING WORD, and it is the ONLY place in the Bible where it is used. There are lots of words for clothing, attire, etc., but this word comes from a verb form which means "to lower." It denoted a loose-fitting outer garment, which was LONG. Paul used this word specifically to tell women that they are to wear long DRESSES. Pants, miniskirts, tight dresses, etc. can not fit the definition of this exacting word. Consult your Vine
