Israel is evil.

I will confess to not being 100% certain where I'm supposed to stand on this. I hear rhetoric from both sides and both have valid points. Also, scripturally, Ishmael has a secular right to the land as the first born. We all know about the promise to Isaac and why the land is his.

Here's my concern:

God judged and judges Israel; often severely. And He uses other nations to judge Israel. However, after He used those nations He often destroyed them for their actions against Israel. He also blessed nations that stood by Israel even if Israel didn't deserve to the stood with.

I think the Abraham Covenant is somewhat still in effect (blessing/curse); I know it will be again during Daniel's 70th week. But our role right now? I really don't know. But I'd rather play it safe. This isn't about their righteousness as a nation nor individuals.

Luckily -as an individual- I only have my opinion and I don't determine policy at all.

I just wish I could have a definitive read on what my opinion should be.

The book of Hebrews is a good place to start.

I get what you’re saying, but :-) I’m just tired of wars that do not benefit Americans. Israel, as far as I know does not give Americans anything. Friendship is give and take. It’s not one sided.
what are you counting as "anything" when you say there is nothing they give us?......

discounting the fact they are a friend and the only democracy in the area - since some here will argue they are neither.... - even if they were not "friendly" or not a "democracy" - according to your definitions.. they still offer the united states secured forward military bases of operation... (something we lost when the democrats botched the afghanistan withdrawal and gave away bagram).... plus shared intelligence and information gathering services that we get from no other nation even close to that area... ...

in military and security excercises israelis often show a higher level of expertise with our own american made equipment than even our own guys have.... . and in more than one joint aerial combat similation exercise israelis ended up teaching the class - and instructing our own pilots on how to best fly against foriegn adversaries and defeat them..... - - that actually started happening during the vietnam war when american pilots were trying to learn how to out fly soviet made aircraft with F4 phantoms... and it has happened several times since then too...... they wrote the book on urban combat and armored operations and our troops have been learning those lessons from them for decades too...... ....in that regard it;s a partnership you don;t just willy-nilly throw away....

and those are just a few things i know about as a non-military private civilian... stuff that is public knowledge and out there for anyone to see..... ....others with security clearances and in the military know a lot more than that.... ... ... and when it comes to whether israel is a valuable friend to the u.s. or not - i tend to trust those people .. especially the ones i know personally.. ..a lot more than i do keyboard warriors on the internet who have already admitted they don;t follow or keep up with things as much as some others do.... :)..

Who is Israel?
John Calvin – “The Jews shall return from their defection to The Obedience of faith and thus shall be completed the salvation of the whole Israel of God.”

RC Sproul – “The nation of Israel as a nation will be restored to God.”

Question. “Dr. Sproul, John MacArthur quoted you in defense of his position that natural Israel, the nation of Israel would would turn to Christ at some future time i.e. that God’s promise that all Israel would be saved applies to ethnic Israel. Is that truly what your statement intended to convey?”

RC Sproul – “As John indicated yesterday, a classic premillennial view of Romans 11 following Edwards, Calvin, Hodge and all the rest, and it talks about a future conversion of ethnic Israel, I believe if you believe in a literal Adam you’re going to have to believe in the salvation of ethnic Israel; same book, same literal reality."

Charles Spurgeon – (On Zechariah) “This vision and prophecy graciously reveal the future history of Jerusalem. We may spiritualize it and say Jerusalem signifies the church, but we should not forget the literal meaning of the words. The Jewish people and their royal city will remain the center of the manifestations of divine glory. The nations of the earth will be joined to the Lord, a suburban population to the chosen city. Jerusalem will be rebuilt in more than her former splendor; the Jews will be restored to their own land; and the Messiah will reign as a prince of the house of David.

You pretend you don't know who Israel is but anyone who believes the Bible has no problem with that; its not just premillennial theologians. The Book of Hebrews was written to Hebrews (Jews) to show them there is a better covenant and those who reject it and go back to Judaism are not saved (Heb 10:38-39). Cf. Heb 3:16-19. In Matthew 24 which you like to quote to prove the Second Coming of Christ was fulfilled in 70 A.D by symbolizing everything including the Book of Revelation doesn't pass the smell test. The entire context of Matthew 24 is Jewish...the temple (v. 1); their flight on the Sabbath (v. 10); the abomination of desolation (v. 15); the elect (v. 22, 24, 31) is Israel (Deut 7:6; Isa 41:8-9). In Isaiah 27:12-13 the whole context is God regathering His people scattered around the world in conjunction with the blowing of the turmpet (Matt 24:31).

Jews are being hunted down and attacked around the world even in the United States. More than 120 countries are calling for the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu. The events in Matthew 24 are more in line with 2024 A.D. not 70 A.D.

I asked...biblically.

More specifically, Hellenistic Jews. But, you are not far from the Kingdom of Heaven.

😂 you are fun. Yes, admittedly I definitely do not have the time to keep up like some do.

Intelligence? I’ve heard a few times they knew they were going to be attacked and allowed it to happen in order to do what they’ve been doing and that’s killing innocent people.

No, I do not think Israel is evil nor do I hate them or any such thing. They’re human and make judgments like any other country.

I will say this. The older I get the more I’m wondering if America didn’t but its nose in foreign affairs maybe we wouldn’t be the country we are today. Meaning, our freedom and powerhouse we’ve become.

Maybe, it takes a Vietnam or an Afghanistan (although I don’t agree with either) to have these freedoms and money we enjoy. Because maybe, if we do not do these things and become the powerhouse we are, other countries become America but not so “nice”

I don’t know. It is fun to speculate.

sure .... and while we are at it we can pull out of nato... . stop helping ukraine..... break all our alliances with other countries including all of europe... canada and the uk...pull back from taiwan... south korea... japan.... ... put them all out there flapping in the wind... and see if God fights for them as well...

you seem to be old enough to rmember the great end of the world scare fundamentalists pushed in the late 1970s ... which caused many christian teenagers to give up and not even plan their future lives..... ....how did that turn out for them?...... were you one of them?....
It would have to be a gradual thing, of course.

For those of you in the anti-Israel camp, I just wanted to point out that this thread was begun by a liberal Christian-turned-atheist. Just something to bear in mind….

From the "Got Questions - Support Israel" link that was posted by DrHuk&Duck:

"Christian believers should give support to the chosen people of God. This is not to say that we necessarily support the methods they use in their relationships with the Arab nations. . . . While we do not have to support everything Israel does as a nation, we most definitely should support Israel’s right to exist."

I'm okay with this. Over the years I have spoken out against anti-Semitism and against the use of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" forgery, and I have had Jewish girlfriends. Some people think that's not good enough, they want me to be more supportive of Israel but no one can explain to me what I am supposed to be doing for Israel. If they ever did, I would ask what is their scriptural basis for it.

As for God's promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:3, the Apostle Paul in Galatians 3 applies that promise to all true believers, Gentile and Jew:
"Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scriptures, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then, they which be of faith, are blessed with faithful Abraham." - Galatians 3:7-9

I don't see how this promise applies to any modern geopolitical entity composed mostly of non-believers (Israel or any other nation).

I expect them to retaliate. But that's not the real issue, is it?
What is the issue.

As a percentage of their population, more died in Isreal on October 7, 2023 than died on 911. If Reagan was president of Isreal he would not stop until every last card carring member of Hamas was wipped out. I completely defend their right to defend themselves.

As expected, the argument is that Israel is our talisman for luck. Bless them or e

If you were Benjamin Netanyahu how would you have responded to the 7 October 2023 attack
.

I hope that you aren’t including me in the list of anti Israel people.
