I won't say I'm old but when I checked into HAC to start my 1st year JH was 10 years younger than I am now. I thought he was getting up there back then.

I became a HACker very early in life.

"Who preached the shortest message in the history of Pastor's School?"

Don't know about Pastors' School but I believe it was A.V. Henderson who would preach 10 minute chapel services. We know that when he was announced as an upcoming speaker, the guys would all get haircuts because we KNEW there would be haircheck the day he spoke!

It wasn't a message, but in a session... One year Bro. Hyles had each of the assistant pastor's come to the pulpit and lay out in detail exactly what he was responsible for and how he did it. As you can imagine Ray Young's went oooooooon... Anyway, this was in the early 90's when Jack Schaap had been moved from HAC to the church. Basically he was an assistant pastor on staff at the church so Bro. Hyles could groom him. He walks up to the pulpit with a great big portfolio, flips it open, said, 'I'm an assistant pastor on staff because my father in law is the pastor. I don't do anything.' And then he walked away... The place busted up in laughter.

I believe it was A.V. Henderson.  It was a service held at the Civic Center.  Of course, they had allowed half the night for the guest preacher.  A.V. Henderson preached for 20 minutes.

We could have all learned a lot from that....

He preached against wearing blue jeans.  A student in my class asked him, "What am I suppose to wear to work in the factory?"  Laurent told him to go to the second hand store and purchase some double-knit pants.

One day in his class I was wearing painter style pants.  After class he told me he wanted to speak to me and Mark Crutchfield.  He lectured me on why I shouldn't be wearing those type of pants.  He thought Crutchfield's pants were too tight.  Laurent said (and I quote), "I can see which way you are pointing".  Classic moment!

I'm sure Laurent was a very sincere man who loved the Lord.  He did more damage to HAC's academic reputation than any other teacher.
I almost spit out my coffee!  :o ;D

You should have been standing there at the time trying to keep a straight face.

I don't know how you did it.

"What famous coach did Dr. Hyles meet in a men's room.  This coach had retired and Dr. Hyles asked him what he was going to do?"

Adolph Rupp, I believe.

Rumor had it that Larry Bullard won this (now retired) pro football player to the Lord. He was later inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Who was it?
