It does bother me that people commit adultery.  It disturbs me that I still have the ever present condition of sinfulness in my own life.  The apostle Paul said that he did things he didn't want to do, and that he didn't do what he should, all of which seriously grieved him, because he realized that sin caused the death of his Savior.  For that same reason, whether it is my sin, or the sin of my brethren, or that of my countrymen and fellow humans, it grieves me.  Does some sins arouse more indignation in me than others?  Yeah, I admit that happens.  When I see little children hurt by adults I want to lose my religion.  Some sins have greater human consequences than others, so it only seems natural to have more zeal to avoid certain kinds of sins more than others.

Sorry. I don't believe homosexuals should be given anything more than a single man or woman already gets. This would include civil unions and all that nonsense.

But sure, this world will do as it wishes ...

But, I believe homosexuality is a sin and/or a sad psychological condition and society would be best to view it that way and not as some normal part of being human. As a Christian we shouldn't agree to civil unions, laws for their benefit, or respect for their sin.

Hate the sin, not the person.

No, actually, I HATE sin. The Bible tells me not to hate people, but to love them. The Bible also says that if we sin we are out of fellowship with God. The Bible also says that God judges people for their sin problem and only the Blood of Jesus Christ can make us clean. If I hate people I myself am out of fellowship.

I really HATE sin - all sin. I wish all people would come to Christ. I really do.

I did. And the avatar itself has words also.

I don't think he's causing anybody woe except his own blood pressure. I think you have to ask yourself, are you acting like Christ? Or some sort of Finnistic call to a more moralistic lifestyle that doesn't save anybody, only the precious blood of Christ does that. It's easy to pick on gays, but harder to truly love them and pray for them, truly seek Gods face kind of prayer, and show them God's grace rather than rubbing their face in your self-righteousness.

Adultery is a capital crime, in God's eyes.

Would this be the same God that said, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." The same God who said, "Where are your accusers? Has no one condemed you? Then neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more."

Are you talking to Timothy or to God?

Psalms 5:5  The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

[/quote]Did God soften with age?  Or was Jesus not playing the role of an earthly judge, when he wisely avoided a loaded question?  Of course, all of your 'theology' is hung on 'exceptions' to the rule.
Anyone who loves God won't commit adultery.  And any wise society should heavily penalize it.

It's been a long time since we've been a wise society.  Our society promotes and rewards it now.

I agree.  My post was tongue in cheek.

I know, I just used it as a reference point for my post.

Looks like he was talking to Timothy. I don't think some believers want to see some people come to repentance. If they do, it's only to validate their own personal issue, not to see Jesus glorified. Instead of seeing gays allow to marry(which i believe will happen anyway) and getting all frothed up about it, it's Gods battle anyway, why don't they fall on their faces and beg God for their salvation and see a renewal in their hearts.
Rainbow, if you want to talk, I'm here as a friend..

I guess its sorta like Jesus and the Pharisees. Jesus kinda came down hard on the pharisees for burdening people with the law....

"I don't think he's causing anybody woe except his own blood pressure."

No. I am actually quite calm over here. My anger is more of an internal strong feeling of displeasure.

Is it condemnation I have for homosexuals? I hope it is only severe reproof toward the sin that many accept. All sin hurts people in many ways - and it  brings good people down hard. Should I love the very thing (sin) that God hates? The very thing (sin) God would judge me for if not for the Blood of Jesus Christ?

Am I burdening people with a law by my words? What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?

But your iniquities have separated
    you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.

I hate sin - for sin is what separates me from God. Or, should I say fellowship with God as his son. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

Repentance is what the homosexuals needs. They need to turn from their sin and turn to Jesus Christ, or back into fellowship with God. Not just homosexuals, but  murderers, drunkards, adulterers, blasphemers, pharisees ...

I know you mean well, Timothy. But I think you misunderstand the relevant Scriptures. I won't try to explain it. You'll get it eventually, or you won't.

Does your understanding of scripture allow for the homosexual to be reformed? Or, do you believe in a hands off policy? I would seek to help reform the homosexual.
