Are you eating at Chick FIL A today?

Yawn.  That ain't the first piece I've seen today from some smug, self-righteous person who thinks their unique insights are morally superior.

I ate there because I appreciate them. Larry Shallenwhatever's guilt-manipulating-tactics ain't gonna change that.  I expect I'm very different from him, and he wants me to have lunch with someone different from me, but so far he ain't called to take me out. and I'd bet a nickel that his lunch routine today will be about the same as yesterday.

Smug and self-righteous?  I thought it was very humble, balanced and Christ-like.  To me it comes down to, would you rather make a point or make a difference?

There's nothing "humble, balanced and Christ-like" about creating a jesus to your own liking and making him non-confrontational about sin.

It does no such thing.  You're making that up.  It simply points out that Jesus himself didn't use meals to cause divisions to make a point.  He used them as a way of uniting and showing grace.

Nobody is using food, or meals, to make a division.  You, as you say, are making that up.  Has Chick Fil A said that they won't serve the sodomites?

The "division" goes back to Genesis 3 when God put enmity between the seed of the sperpent (his followers) and the seed of the woman (Jesus Christ).  The lines of the division are marked again when the serpent's seed reviles those who state what God has already said about sin, in this context that homosexuality is an abomination and brings about God's judgement.

"Showing grace" is NOT condoning or approving or ignoring sin.  "Showing grace" consists of real love, and real love does not approve of those actions or behaviors that will destroy the people upon whom that "love" is shown.

Our church meets 2 hours before service on the first Wed. of every month to get caught up on collating Scripture from our Bible ministry.  I prepare the meal for about 100 people who show up for this.  Today we are foregoing a home cooked meal to have Chik-Fil-A nuggets and chicken strips.  I still made mac and cheese, salad and a fruit bowl, but that was easy.  I hear our local CFA establishments are packed.

The whole matter of communion (Lord's Supper) centers around fellowship or disfellowshiping people, so your/his assertion really isn't even premised on a valid argument.

Really?  Fellowship in/with Christ and His body/church is not what the Lord's Supper is about?  Please explain.

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. (1 Corinthians 11:26 ESV)

THAT is what the Lord's Supper centers around.

Andy Stanley quotes aside, his point was more accurately directed at the gay and liberals boycotting CFA. CFA certainly welcomes diners of all races, creeds, religions and political stripes.
The tolerant crowd are the people separating themselves from those who are different from them.

How can you make a difference without making a point once in awhile......after all Jesus was about changing people, which is another mistake made in the article.

That is certainly true, but the Lords Supper wasn't for the lost....but Christ followers to celebrate the Lords sacrifice for them......but you already know that.....you're being disingenuious again....but I'm not questioning your Christianity!  ;)

Well I just got back from Chick-fil-a...the wait was about 40 minutes to order and get food.  Met some wonderful people from all areas of life, ethic groups and genders.  Everyone was pleasant and the staff at CFA did a great job.  It was a wonderful meal that brought people together!

Yup...and don't tell  Frag, but I actually saw a mixed race couple who seemed to be happy eating there with their mixed race children! 8)

No parking in the CFA lot, according to my wife.  People were parking in the Lowes parking lot behind the CFA and walking over to eat.

Who is the "you" that Christ addresses this commandment?

And of course the whole point that Christ and Christians used food as the great uniter, not as a divider is completely demolished here...

I Cor 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

My wife and I went through a long drive-through line this evening. I had the chicken wrap.

LOL. She wasn't by chance in Orland Park IL was she? That's how it's set up there. When my wife and I went for lunch, CFA's lot was packed so we had to park in Lowes lot and walk over. When we saw how long the line was we decided to leave since my wife had to be at work in about 90 minutes time, and we didn't feel like she'd have enough time to wait, eat and then get to work on time.

I underlined the part that you ignored.

I'd also point out that you said fellowshiping/disfellowshiping people is what the Lord's Supper centers around. Even if I agreed with you that this was a component (which I don't), that doesn't mean it centers around it. Turner Field centers around baseball, not funnel cakes, even if funnel cakes are a part of the baseball experience.
