Yeah.... we all know there is no reason to kill someone that is trying to kill you. Just give up. After all, its God's will or it wouldn't have happened...

There are many conflicting reports, but it sure looks like he behaved within the law and should not be considered guilty of murder.  People are just spinning it differently because the man who died is black.

You honestly can not believe half the stuff the media says. I think there is more to the story, but sounds like self defense.

If it's found that he was acting in self defense, then no, I don't believe he should do any time. If the evidence shows otherwise, then he should spend time in jail.

Is it self-defense if you initiate the conflict after being instructed by law enforcement to not initiate contact with the other person?

He says he didn't initiate the conflict, but, yes, it would still be self defense after he was attacked, especially according to the Florida stand-your-ground law.

I'm sorry.  Let me rephrase my question:
Is it self defense if you initiate a conflict after being instructed by law enforcement to not initiate contact with the other person by getting out of your vehicle, where you were safe, and approaching the individual?

Law enforcement did not instruct him to not initiate contact. The 911 dispatcher simply told him they didn't need for him to "do that" or to follow him. They didn't forbid him from doing what was in his own right to do.

It doesn't matter to me that he followed him. He was within his rights to do so. Its was a public area. I have no problem with him wanting to keep track of him until the POLICE actually arrived. I believe if you'd be honest, you might would have done the same thing.

I don't usually follow people walking through my neighborhood simply because they are wearing a hoodie and packing skittles and ice tea.  Suspicious people are in my yard not the street that is a public area as you already mentioned.

It doesn't matter why he followed. There is nothing criminal about following him. Was it a crime for Zimmerman to follow him?

Suspicious people would love for you not to may any attention to them UNTIL they are in your yard.

They probably would but I find nothing suspicious about people walking down a street they pay taxes to maintain even if I don't know them.

I would assume he did pay taxes on his skittles and ice tea like we all do.  My city uses sales taxes along with property taxes and state funds to maintain the streets.  Now if someone knows where to get snacks at halftime without paying taxes please let me know because this 9.5% tax is killing me.  :)

Yeah....because he was black and stuff.  :-\

I'm afraid this whole case is a "Bonfire of the Vanities" situation. Everyone has their own agenda and no one cares what the truth is. All we really know is that a young man is dead.

I don't see a criminal every time I see a young black male walk by, and I don't see a racial incident every time a minority is killed by someone of a different race. So maybe I'm not as fit to judge Zimmerman's guilt or innocence as some of you seem to be. I hope the jury is able to set aside all the hyperbole and look at the facts. Then again, I hoped we would have a different president right now too, so maybe my idealism is misplaced.

So passing sales tax, that is sent to the state as part of a businesses retail agreement, makes one a taxpayer.....

Shoot, going to write that in on my 1040.

Thanks H&R Block.

If you live in some states, you can write off a portion of sales tax.
