Listening to/watching the Matthew West special on TBN filmed at the Ryman in Nashville. Excellent so far - especially the short message delivered by a pastor friend of his.
What I'm watching is what I'm listening to. This might be an encouragement to you it was to me as God used a segment of a fictional show to speak to me about God and his love.
It was from the ole Bonanza show where Ben Cartwright (Lorene Green) found his son Joe (Michael Landon) stuck on a high cliff so terrified that he couldn't move. Our trials can be like that sometime....we feel paralyzed and we can almost cry in despair. Does God care and is he a million miles away? Is God the Father and Jesus really indifferent to our plight? NO THEY ARE NOT! Think of Ben C, as our heavenly Father who cares!
God really is with us in our moments of despair and is there to bring instruction and comfort.

my mom loved journey... i heard a lot of it when i was a child... . but as far as i know she
never danced to any of their music.. which is why i can tolerate it mildly... and it;s also
why i can;t stand to hear most of the songs done by zz-top.. aerosmith ..some of the
rolling stones etc... because she and her co-workers danced to those songs all the time
.. hearing them brings back memories of being in the backroom behind the stage waiting for her to get off work and take me home....
however.... this song brings back memories of standing on a kitchen chair stirring a pot
of spaghettios.. (which made up half my meals back then.. and which is what i was doing
the first time i ever heard it... ).. we also had tv dinners and cheap chicken pot pies in the freezer which i learned how to thaw out and cook for myself before i even started school.
... so the first time i ever heard this song on the radio i thought i had found kindred spirits.
.. as if.. "finally!... someone understands... .i'm not alone!..."
it was still a few years before i would make the connection and realize this song was done by
the same band that also produced the music strippers love to perform to... so its not quite
as special now as it use to be.... but if you can imagine a kid standing in a chair and singing
and dancing in time with the music while working at the kitchen, stove then you might see
why i loved that song long after it was no longer popular on the air waves..... .
