The Mega-Thread for COVID Evangelists

What do you mean by this? Have the vaccines been proven to be very, very effective in preventing COVID? I know natural immunity has been proven to be very, very effective in preventing a reoccurrence, but have the vaccines? I've seen where they are effective at lessening the severity, but not sure I've seen anything recently that shows they are that effective in preventing. That was the promise at the beginning, but I don't think the data has supported that, has it?
Here's one showing around 90% prevention of symptomatic cases. Even if all it did though is prevent death and prevent my lungs from being destroyed I'd still be good with that. I don't know what the difference in protection between natural immunity and vaccine is. I know natural immunity also is not a 100% silver bullet. I know one guy who has had COVID 3 times.

Right. I'm in agreement I'm for maximum freedom. Freedom for those who want the vaccine to get it and freedom for those who choose not to get it to reject it.
Are you for the freedom of a business to decide that the risk of having unvaccinated employees is too great? They are, after all, private entities. Given the nature of the business I work in, an outbreak could effectively shut down our business if 15-20% of our employees contract the virus and, in turn, that would shut down many other business and facilities. Those who choose to remain unvaccinated pose a real threat to the welfare of the business and it's employees. My guess is that soon we will have a mandate in place to vaccinate as a condition of employment. If (when) this happens, I would hate to see some of the people we employ no longer work here - but that would also be their freedom to choose.

During December 14, 2020–April 10, 2021, data from the HEROES-RECOVER Cohorts,* a network of prospective cohorts among frontline workers, showed that the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccines were approximately 90% effective in preventing symptomatic and asymptomatic infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, in real-world conditions (1,2). This report updates vaccine effectiveness (VE) estimates including all COVID-19 vaccines available through August 14, 2021, and examines whether VE differs for adults with increasing time since completion of all recommended vaccine doses.

I'm opposed to a government mandate. I'm mixed on private companies, although, if a legitimate business case can be made I might support it.

A devout Mexican Christian , about sixty years old, died this morning from coronavirus. He was a faithful member of our church and had a Godly testimony that stretched back for decades.
He was already in bad health, but he was stable. He died about ten days after getting Covid, and he had not been vaccinated.

From the article:
"Kingston is currently a pharmaceutical marketing expert and biotech analyst."
From an article linked in the article:
"A former Pfizer employee, now working as an industry analyst"

Apparently she worked in marketing at Pfizer and getting fired qualified her to be a biotech analyst.

To help out Twisted here is one where the same lady calls the "kill shot" a bioweapon. I wonder why she's concerned with COVID rates of the vaccinated if she has already figured out that the shots themselves are going to kill those receiving them. Wouldn't that be the bigger issue?

I'm sorry about your friend. What treatments did he receive for being told he had covid? And how is one "stable" with "bad health"? I mean other than by not being dead yet?

is it difficult to get the vaccine in Mexico?

I'm not going to say that the virus isn't real...I've had it...TWICE! My wife has had it...TWICE! We've not had a vaccine, and we're still alive, though this last round with the Delta strain made me think I might die! We did have a friend pass away from it almost two weeks ago. But, the government needs to stop pushing a vax that doesn't work on people who DON'T want it!

I appreciate this Dr. for using drawings and animal comparisons to bring his discussion down to the level where Ranson, tmjbog, and Tarheel can understand it.

Who this Dr. is:

I appreciate the kind words about the loss of our friend.
Antonio was about 60 years old and had a variety of illnesses, most of which "took him down" about three months ago. They had him on oxygen part time, along with a variety of medications, and he had stabilized--he wasn't getting any worse. He still attended church until the last month.
He probably got coronavirus from an outbreak after a memorial service for a woman who had died from something else, and six days after testing positive he died.

Vaccines manufactured in China have been provided free here in the Chapala area. They require two doses, and since the coronavirus rate has soared, they do not seem to be too effective. Several people have posted on a local site that they got coronavirus after being vaccinated, but only one had serious symptoms.

Wow, 60 isn't that old. I'm really sorry.

Your presumption that Thee twisted needs help is ridiculous! You should apologize immediately! And, as has been proven many times, facts do not carry weight with him. Seek out a crackpot site if you want to add to this dialogue.

Preventing COVID & preventing symptomatic cases are 2 different things. Haven't more recent studies said that the effectiveness in prevention is not that high (thus the requiring of vaccinated to wear masks to stop spreading it)?
