The Machine Model in Medicine

No one reputable ever claimed that getting the vaccine prevented a person from getting COVID. What was said is that by getting the vaccine, it could lessen the effects of the virus.
I think your memory may be faulty. The COVID vaccine was initially touted as protection against the coronavirus. It was only later, when it was evident that people who had had the initial vaccination and a booster were still getting sick, that it was said to mitigate the effects of the virus.

Which is better than nothing. But you still get the distinct feeling it was trotted out too fast, and too optimistically, and then its benefits oversold.

Don't look now, but your revisionism is showing.
No revisionism…I couldn’t care less, tbh. When I got the jab, I wasn’t stupid enough to believe it kept me from getting Covid. The same is true with a flu shot.

Maybe my memory is faulty, but I never understood “protection” to mean “prevention.” I only understood it to mean it would lessen the severity of the infection.
