CB - you know that Bro. Hyles was in the process of closing the school before he died. The attitude of the kids were they were expecting FBC people, HAC staff and students to pay their full tuition while they were going to school. They were wearing clothes better than the HB kids. Don't let those kids fool you for a minute. I remember back in the 70's I was friends with one guy from the college. He said he was told by a certain Cowling that he had to support the poor Chicago City bus kid so that they can attend our CB schools. If he didn't he was nothing but low down no good and he would make sure that his name would be mud. Well, the fact that the guy didn't have a car and they weren't transporting the guys to and from jobs his parents - who were in the ministry (his dad had a small church in Louisiana) - were paying his tuition. He informed this certain Cowling of this and he said he was harrassed relentlessly. I believe he mentioned it to his parents and the father called this certain Cowling and told him if he didn't stop he was going to the Board of Deacons and to Bro. Hyles. I guess there were words said and this certain Cowling never harrassed my friend again. He finished his 4 years, graduated, said our good bye's and I've never heard from him again.

A meeting periodically held on Saturday evening at First baptist Church. This meeting was conducted by Dr. Hyles and was for preacher boys from HAC. Dr. Hyles would teach on preaching and preacher boys were allowed to preach and be critiqued.
