Gomez telling everyone from the pulpit that his now wife was a virgin when they got married.

I double-dog dare you to tell him THAT to his face!  :P

For what? He would just think I wasn't right with God.

But if me and you ever meet and he is around and you dare me....... :) well, I may just have to do that for a good laugh.

Vineyard was preaching on whores and for about 5 minutes went on a rant about them,at the same time using both his fingers pointing to his "you know what's" screaming about you can't have this.

These are really funny stories.  I'm getting a really good chuckle.  Need some more.  Vineyard and Gomez are real hoots!  I've heard the Gomez stories about him and women skirts.  I believe his wife wore a pretty tight wedding dress.  HMMMMM.

Yeah, I throw him and Gomez together not much difference.

Since nobody else wants to mention it, anybody hear of some sermon about a polished shaft?

:o

But that is typical of extreme IFB...they can preach against it, but rules dont pertain to them! I am sure that is what Schaap was thinking when he was with his underaged girlfriend.

Hyles side of the IFB.

You have officially set the standard for this thread!  :)

Dave Hyles once (or maybe more than once) preached that if he spit on the sidewalk and told you to lick it up, you are compelled to comply with the leadership that God has placed over you. If you don't, God would judge you for disobeying God's man. Dave would also be judged for his role, but you would be judged more harshly because of disobeying God's man.

Reading these, I'm baffled. Why would someone ever sit under this kind of teaching?

When I was a senior at Crown, I had the pleasure of sitting through Bill Grady's "Seven Signs of Pseudo-King James Onlyism." He preached straight ruckmanism for about an hour and a half. Needless to say, he was never invited back to the school or church. My next class after chapel was spent debunking all the nonsense we had just heard.

I think for some, they were given the gospel by this type church and God changed them and then of course by nature this is the church they are brought up in spiritually.  This was the case of my parents.  I was raised up in it for a period of time till my parents stop going to church.

I was fortunate enough as a young adult through circumstances, to be brought up from a different side of the IFB spiritually.  I have had a few discussions with my parents about the Hyles side but they for the most part, still think they walk on water over there.

Keep in mind that we are sharing a lifetime of sermons from many different churches.

And the problem with this is....???????  :)

Then there was the Pastor's School sermon by Larry Brown where he preached against the violence in TV & illustrated how bad it was by smashing the screen of a TV on the platform at FBCH.

No no no, I'm not being negative, but the old saying is "you gotta practice what ya preach."
