Strom’s Scripture Reading (and More)

Genesis 26 - 1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:”
 
Joe - let me explain what’s going on here. I’m using this as an accountability measure for trying to read the Bible in its entirety for the first time. I’m not necessarily posting verses with an application. I believe I need to fully read the Bible through through three times to properly do this. First, I need to do a “superficial” reading of the Bible. Second, I need to read the Bible with a explanatory text (similar to what Alayman recommended). Lastly, I intend to read the Bible a third time with just a spiritual application in mind. (That’s not to say I can’t find spiritual application in readings 1 and 2).

Amazing! It's a Bible verse!
 
I most certainly respect your desire for accountability, likewise admire your aspirations to be regularly digging in the word. Just a slight suggestion to achieve those purposes efficiently, particularly the notion of accountability....join with sincere Bible believing folk weekly and let them know of your desire and that will be a very effective and biblical means of accountability.

I have occasionally attended a church service, but I am going to try becoming more regular in 2022.

if you are talking about the psychiatric hospital.... they don;t send out letters confirming a reservation.... they send out EMS accompanied by police and armed with an ex parte order signed by a judge.... and they take you whether you like it or not.... ..unless.... of course.... your family itself is in EMS... knows your doctor very well.. ...and has agreed to bring you to the facility themselves .... ...... ....... ............wanna ask me how i know this?....

no?...... well.... i;ll tell you anyway..... ..i;ve been what you might consider a "guest" of such hospitals more than once.... ....and most of what people think... write into novels... or put on tv and movies about such places is totally false.... it's also false that it;s easy for just anybody to figure out who might be a candidate for "residence " at such a facility.... or even a frequent visitor.....

more than once... like i said in my edited post above.... most people here already knew that....(or at least i think they did...).. ... ..i have never tried to hide it.... .and it wouldn;t work to try to hide it anyway... ......but no worries.... i have even made jokes about it myself before. .. and can even remember most of the times i was in there. ... ... ...but unlike what happens to the ones i wrote about .... i have never been dragged there by police or EMS... a member of my adoptive family is a part of EMS .............


and by the way...... there is no internet for patients in there.... no cell phones..... no communication at all with the outside world..... no television... nothing... just cameras high in the corners of 2 opposing walls.... watching everything you do..... .... ..all the times i was in there i was completely absent without explanation from here.. and any other social media or forum i was a part of....only my family knew where i was and they never disclosed it.... . ...so.. anyone who says they are currently in such a place and claims they are posting from it... no matter how spikey their hair..or purple their teeth are. . ..... ... .. ....well...... ..i;ll let you make your own mind up about that...... ....

it;s always fun to pretend at something until the real thing shows up.... ...i don;t want to ruin anyones fun or ability to enjoy this place.... none of this ruins mine..... (and i just deleted the paragraphs i posted in this space a couple of hours ago about something i found in one of the crisis lock-up rooms at the emergency room... ..i;m not here to shock people either if i can help it)......

I always think of that movie, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. I’m sure there’s a lot of Hollywood spin, and it was also made in the 70s, so probably a lot different today. That Nurse Ratched…she really had it coming to her!

i have never seen the entire movie... but what little of it did see was nothing like reality... . but then again.. like you say ... that was the 70s.... it has even changed a lot since the mid 2000s when i was first sent there.... ... ...i don;t know if they really did that kind of thing in the 70s but they never allowed people to roam around at random and socialize with each other where i was even before some of the changes... ..... everything is structured and they only have one goal...... or 2 goals really... 1st is to keep you from harming yourself... and second is to get you back as close to normal quickly as possible and then get you out of there back home....... ...the times i was there i don;t rmemebr much about being taken in... just later in the middle part and from there to getting ready to be sent back home.... ...i never met any nurse in there like nurse ratched either.... ..i have met some nurse ratched types... but not in there.... personnel in there are carefully screened.... ..it;s not that abuse doesn;t sometimes happen but one thing usually stops them if nothing else will........ the knowledge that everybody in there will eventualy get back out on the street.... and they dont want to meet up with somebody out there they weren;t anything but nice to while inside....... .
