No, it’s a redfish (aka red drum). They’re beautiful fish. View attachment 2476
i have heard of red drum.... that;s one of the fish that can naturally live in both salt water and fresh water.... ....very few fresh water fish here.... all of them imported... and most of them limited to man made ponds.... none of them can live in salt water...... ..plus the only one that is edible is catfish.... ........but that fish (red drum)... sort of resembles a deep water bottom fish we have off shore here...... .....the opakapaka ..... very good eating.....

I’m mostly in brackish water. I can catch saltwater fish and freshwater fish depending on the tides, and weather conditions. Never been to Hawaii, but sounds pretty amazing. I heard there was a snow storm there a week or two ago on that big mountain (forgot the name).

the snow was on the big island up at high elevation... there is usually snow there year round at 13,000 + feet.... the coldest we got where i am was low 60s..... i have never fished much in freshwater or brackish either one.... only deep sea.... i worked on a 53 ft sportfisher a few years ago as a combination - barista / cook / sea sickness medic / snack-maker / and cigar lighter..... pretty much everything that did not involve fishing or operation of the boat.. the customers were usually tourists.... it was fun... learned a lot about big game fish.... but that boat is not even operational any more.... got too expensive to run it...

edit.... i actually did get to help them once when they dry docked it to repair the stuffing boxes.... i landed that coz i was small enough to fit into the engine spaces with them and still have room to work.... it kept me getting paid while the rest of the crew was out of money.... ..

Do people in Hawaii travel much between the islands or pretty much only stay on the one they live on? I’ve always wondered. I’ve heard no bridges between islands

no bridges...... too many miles between each of the main islands.... ... and water from 1/2 mile deep minimum to 2 miles deep .... ..but dont; feel bad..... apparently mazie hirono didn;t know that either and she;s our senator..... (and no tunnel with a train between hawaii and the mainland like ocasio-cortex thought either..)....... .. ...... but people fly between the islands all the time....flights on the hour by both airline and charter flight... sometimes every half hour.... ..... ..no ferry service either..... but we use to have one.... democrats and a corrupt federal judge messed that up....

I hope Twisted comes back soon. I can see you’re getting restless without him - you big blowhard!
If you hate Scott so much, wouldn't it be advisable to pack your dolly and go home?

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

What of it?

I thought you were a great theologian. It means start praying and being humble or else you’re in serious danger of a hot sauna dip for eternity
Actually, it doesn't, because you failed to consider its historical and literary context.

Way to fail on basic biblical interpretation, Quality Catholic Education boy.

Just curious, how do you get that interpretation from that verse? What is your basis for determining that it has to do with salvation and/or damnation?

It apparently has to do with God’s judgment of Israel https://www.gotquestions.org/2-Chronicles-7-14.html
Yes, I think I understand what that verse means and what its application potentially could be for today. What I was asking though was why you think it has to do with salvation and damnation. Judgment, per se, can come in other forms. For instance, within the Biblical concept of "God's people" is the notion of chastisement, which is a form of judgment. Chastisement then, properly understood, has nothing to do with judgment that amounts to consignment to hell or separation from God. So again, just wondering if you were messing with Ransom, I understand that. But if that was truly your interpretation, just wondering what kind of scheme you use to figure out the meaning of a biblical verse.

I was messing with him a little bit, but yes, I thought it was about salvation. I’ve really never studied the Bible outside of some religion classes, but I don’t recall ever breaking down verses. It always seemed more historically based stuff and philosophical, but never really spiritual per se.

Trolls pretending to be Christian are generally good comedy, but you're so inept at it, you're not even unintentionally funny.
I will have more knowledge than you if I apply myself. I’ve just never done it. My IQ is obviously higher.

Thanks for the honesty. I really appreciate it. Some of those hermeneutics, or rules for interpretation that I referred to in the other thread, assist in not making the Bible appear to contradict itself. That verse that you quoted is a notorious one that is used in a form of Christian nationalism. People take things that were said to the nation of Israel and make them applicable in this church age. That's not always good theology. Obviously not everything that the nation of Israel had as constraints, promises, or commands carries over to now. A simple for instance, we no longer sacrifice animals because Christ himself became the supreme sacrifice (Lamb of God). The verse that you quoted in the context it was given might have principles for today. Actually, you touched upon one. Humility is an expectation within God's children, whether in the age of Israel or the age of the church. If you think of The sermon on the Mount, you see this principle demonstrated in Jesus's preaching when he says things like "the meek shall inherit the earth".

i hope you are sincere... and if you are then i would sincerely like to help you...... but i think first it would be good if you forget you read that verse for a moment.. and read the entirety of 2nd chonicles first ... from the 1st chapter - up to..and through that verse you posted.... ..... coz i think then you would get a better sense of what was going on with israel... the temple... solomon... and why God was answering solomons prayer in chapter 6 in that way........ ..... ...... but if you can;t do all that... then just read the verse prior to 2 chronicles 7-14..... read verse 7-13..... what were the theoretical situations God described in verse 13... then promising solomon He would heal .. if they happened... in verse 14?....... .

there are many pieces of scripture that get cherry picked and misused.... ..many well meaning people go on and on about them creating entire doctrines on them without even knowing what those verses are about...... .... ... this verse in chronicles chapter 7 you posted is among the top 10 in my opinion for potential abuse...... you have to read the whole story..... ..
