So why the drastic change in beliefs?

Reading through this thread is exhausting! How can so many people who believe the same way about salvation have such differing beliefs on everything else? We all have the same Holy Spirit, right? So how can we all have such differing beliefs? Who is right? Who is wrong? My thought is: who cares? Not me.
It will take me more than a lifetime to obey the big 10 "rules" in Exodus and the 11th in John. Why add a bunch of others? If I can just manage the ones plainly stated by God Himself, the others will take care of themselves. And when I take my eyes off my own issues and look at others, I am robbing myself of the Holy Spirit's ability to help me with my issues.
I couldn't care less whether YOU go to the movies or not, etc. I also don't care why you do or don't. That's between you and God.
Now...off to the REO Lab at the Five Star Conference! By the way, got to hear President George W. Bush and his family speak last night and it was AWESOME!

We haven't had a drastic change in beliefs...we still believe the same way we always did when it comes to doctrine.  Some of the changes we HAVE made have to do with the fact that we have found that the IFB we were associated with for so long had started looking nothing like Christ.  It had become mean, hateful, vicious, dishonest, etc.  Their lips say "It's all about Him!" but their actions are nothing like His.  I long for Christianity that reminds me of Jesus.  I am beginning to wonder if I have to go to a 3rd world country to find that.  So, for now...we faithfully attend and are involved in our local church but the real center of our worship is in God's Word.  Period.  Never again will I place my faith and/or trust in any man.  And, perhaps that is the way it is supposed to be.  We were led astray for far too long.  I have found that God's Word NEVER leads me astray.  Looking back on it all, wow....the control and manipulation was unbelievable.  N.E.V.E.R.  A.G.A.I.N.

Let me give you an illustration: One of Youth Director's OBVIOUSLY FAVORITE Senior girls goes on Senior Day to Chicago with her class.  She asks under-privileged educable/social slow young man in her class to take a picture with her in front of a water fountain in Chicago.  Of course, he obliges.  Just as picture is being taken, she elbows him INTO the water fountain.  Youth Director and many peers kill themselves with laughter.  They thought it was hilarious.  Meanwhile, under-privileged educable/slow young man crawls out of fountain and walks around the rest of the day soaking wet on a 50+ degree day in windy Chicago. 

Really???? So Christlike.  (sarcasm)  And this took place in the self-proclaimed "best youth group in America"! 

But....it's ok.  The girl doesn't wear pants.  So, her actions don't really matter now, do they!

Some of us began to see that something was very wrong with that kind of thinking.  And if THAT was wrong...what else was?  Well...plenty.  I thank God every day of my life for getting me out of there.  And there are plenty of people still there that consider us the lucky ones.  Then there's the ones who consider us "backslidden".  Hahahahaha!  We consider ourselves blessed beyond measure.
