Um, I've got the book sitting on my shelf behind me - The Blood, the Book, and the Body...

BINGO!!

He was comparing other bible believing churches to FBCH and if you did not agree on all the IFBxxx then you did not have a true church. He got a lot of blow back from the 1996 Pastors' School and he walked back many of the extreme things he preached in those three sermons. You can't be saved without a KJV is in Enemies of Soul Winning. He could not easily walk that back. I believe in 1996 he knew he was not long on this earth. It was his last great push for national relevance.

That sermon on the KJV is in a pamphlet I have called The Body, Blood and Book.

Whoops, missed your post, Tom.

One of the stories that was told to us, possibly on The "Trip of A Lifetime" to Dr Hyles roots in Texas was this,...

The coroner that handled Athey Hyles body told bro Hyles one that that the bodies of the deceased had a certain "feel" to them. Lost people had a certain feel and saved people had a certain feel. Athey Hyles, to this coroner or undertaker, "felt" like a saved man. This was one of the assurances Bro Hyles had that his dad (it is Athey right?) was saved.

We were just like, "Okay?"

Now that's a bit spooky!

Dr. Laurent said in one of his classes that he believed that God was going to give Bro. Hyles a present when he got to heaven and that present would be his father. Don't ask me how or why he came up with this. Maybe he knew something we didn't or maybe he thought that God and the 24 elders would stand and salute when jh got there. I just don't know.

IF you remember the story:

Bro. Hyles had fasted for his father's salvation.  He presented to his father.  His father was very receptive and agreed to go to church and get baptized and become a member of his son's church - but he would do that in the next season (spring?).

Bro. Hyles began to ponder if maybe his father had gotten saved, maybe that day, maybe afterward.  One does not need to be in church or with another soul winner to be saved.  Maybe he had trusted Christ, only hadn't told his son.

In my opinion, as all people age, they tend to think a little more along this line.

Didn't his dad attend a service at a church and instead of preaching they had a cantata?

Yes, but that was when JH was a boy.  This so disappointed him that he would never have anything ever replace preaching in a service.

BINGO!!

The booklet to which you are referring was printed in 1992 from Wed night bible studies given prior to that time. I do not believe any books were printed from the 1996 sermons. Because of the amount of blow back the tapes and videos of the evenings were carefully edited. If you were not there you would never know what was said.

I don't think anyone cares what was said, by then.

Dr. Bob Gray of Longview Texas once made a proclamation that the students at his college were not allowed to wear Victoria's Secret clothing.

I fail to see how it would be his business regarding what the girls chose to wear under their skirts.
