This is Carter’s most recent direct quote about abortion:
“I have never believed that Jesus would be in favor of abortion, unless it was the result of rape or incest, or the mother's life was in danger. That's been the only conflict I've had in my career between political duties and Christian faith," Carter told The New York Times in an interview posted on Friday.“
By the way, let’s compare Carter’s abortion stance with that of Trump. Let’s start with one older quote from Trump in 1999:
October 1999
–“I’m very pro-choice. I hate the concept of abortion. I hate it. I hate everything it stands for. I cringe when I listen to people debating the subject. But you still – I just believe in choice,” Trump said during a “Meet the Press” interview.
And to be fair, I’ll list a much more recent quote from Trump in 2024:
April 2024
– “My view is now that we have abortion where everyone wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both. And whatever they decide must be the law of the land. In this case, the law of the state,” Trump said in a video statement posted on social media.
Many states will be different,” Trump continued. “Many will have a different number of weeks, or some will have more conservative than others, and that’s what they will be. At the end of the day, this is all about the will of the people.”

It doesn’t exactly sound to me like Trump is a very pro-life kind of guy, nor does it seem like he’s really going to bat for the anti-abortion cause. Correct me if I’m wrong.
