IFBs are going to be against this so called Old Paths.

Out of all that history there is not a hint of the modern tithing doctrine. The word tithe or tithing is not mentioned even once.

I would expected there would be many sermons of great condemnation by IFBs against Mr Cloud for leaving out the vital tithing doctrine.

The modern tithing doctrine as taught in IFB churches is the most important and the number one doctrine. It is mentioned every time the offering plate is passed.

No this kind of Old Paths will never do.

It didn't mention breeetches on women either.  Throw the whole thing out.

I have come to think that the 'Old Paths' that these guys talk about are not really that old.  For crying out loud, I see these 'Old Paths' guys taking pics and on twitter while they are on the platform in churches!

That was quite an article... Would really like to see churches make a sincere effort to purge their rolls of people who don't attend. Would also dearly love to see churches insist on some kind of fruit of salvation before taking on new members.

When did this "baptize 'em and they're church members" start?  That certainly didn't seem to be that way in the 19th century, but for most of my adult life, churches have been treating every person they can talk into getting baptized as "members", and they have a church roll that is laughable.

Wait a minute!

David cloud, who holds to the 1950's doctrine of Peter Ruckman, wants to return to the old paths?

LOL!  Write him and tell him that.  Then post the response.

How can you say that? !?!  He has repudiated Ruckman on his website.

His Tithes, and our Offerings.  The typical IFB false doctrine espoused by my former dictator.

No, Vinny, you made the accusation.  It's up to YOU to prove he is.

We'll all sit here and eat pickles while you find the proof.

No problem, Twisted.

The first version of Ruckmanism taught that the translators of the KJV were preserved from error. As with many new doctrines, the Ruckmanites had the advantage of surprise--since nobody had heard of this before, nobody had prepared a good Scriptural defense against it. But over time, different Christians published articles showing mistakes in the KJV. Ruckman later repudiated the doctrine, stating that anyone who believed it was an apostate. In other words, Ruckman had been an apostate when he invented the doctrine.

The second version of Ruckmanism is that in 1611, God rejected His Word and replaced it with the KJV. David Wood then became the champion of the first doctrine, and the two set out in competing money-making ministries to defend their own version of Ruckmanism.

Vince do you have source attribution for your information?

We're talking about David CLOUD.  Pay attention and provide resource links.

Good Heavens, Folks, it's true! David Cloud is no longer a Ruckmanite. He does not say anything about his having been one, nor does he say anything about repudiating Peter Ruckman. But he believes the Bible these days.

He posts a great testimony, leaving out the part where he turned Hindu AFTER accepting Christ, and making no mention of the years he spent selling books teaching Ruckmanism. But he does believe the Bible now.

There's hope for some of us yet.

Who brought KJV Onlyism to the IFB's? Was it Peter Ruckman or David Otis Fuller?

IFB's have been since the New Testament so I assume it is Peter or Paul!  (kidding but you get my drift)

The funny thing is that Baptist Landmarkism was started by a Southern Baptist and not IFB. IFB's probably started in the 1920's with J.Frank Norris. They were baptists in the fundamentalist movement as far back as the 1850's but they were not yet known as "IFB".
