Speaking of crazy (split chapel) sermons.

How is that old softy? ;D

He's struggling with a serious heart condition but still preaching strong.
I still love him dearly.  Thankful I have been able to be in his church for 29 years...

Russel Anderson's daughters

Anderson's oldest daughter attended HAC when I was a student.  I can't remember her name.  I believe the second daughter came as a freshman when I was a senior.  Of course, I don't remember her name either.

They were blonde and dressed fancy.  I always thought the oldest daughter was a bit "snotty"  Of course, their dad's name is part of the college's name.
Tommy Sue is the oldest.

I remember Tommy Sue and her boy friend (can't remember his name) sitting on a couch in the room off of the lobby staring into each other's eyes for hours at a time.

IIRC, they did marry. Don't know where they are today.

Theron used to drive for Teenage Soul-Winning and I was in his car. He had a VW Bug he named "Hawthorne". That, his dating the Anderson girl and his pastor dad shooting a prowler on his church property (self defense) was all I recall about him.

Yes.  Theron Stuart.

Thanks for the spelling correction. Couldn't recall which spelling it was so I went with the traditional last name version. :)

While I was a student at HAC there were always a few "high profile" students.  The "high profile" status may have come from a position held by the student before or while they were at HAC.  It may have been because of the family from which they came.  It may have been because of the church from which they came.  They just seem to stand out in one way or another.

So, Hacker Nation, who do you remember that would be classified as a "high profile" student?

*One name per post.  Remember, it's all about the numbers!

Anyone remember Ollie Conley?  Red hair.  Friend of Dave Hyles?

He was from my church.  We called him Dan.  He started using his given name, Ollie,  when he went to HAC.  Quite the story there.  He was one rough character before he got saved.  His mom played the piano in our church and our church prayed for him for a long time.  When he got saved, it was quite the moment!  Shortly afterward he went to HAC.  Because of his awesome story/history, Dave Hyles took him under his wing immediately.  Then he ruined Dan.  Dan was a newer Christian and seeing all the hypocrisy, favoritism, etc. hurt him.  Then he got in trouble with Dave.  Dave got promoted and Dan got expelled.  He never got over it.  Ended up back in the world and died in prison. Another victim of the "system".  Gotta wonder how many stories there are just like that.

I remember Ollie. IIRC, he helped Dave co-write all those Bible verses Dave had song tapes for. Sad story.

Wonder if Dave ever thinks of the people and lives he has destroyed. I just dont get the impression of humbleness coming from Dave!

Ummm, "they" aren't anywhere. They divorced and Theron is openly gay.
