HAC Class Notes Thread

I have my last two years of notes that I have not yet scanned.  Of course, I won't post them as they might give away my alter-ego.

It teaches some preachers bad words, too.

I still have most of mine, but I intentionally chose classes with teachers that I felt had something to say.  And, I had a pretty good HACker filter that allowed me to tune out all the HACker garbage that was thrown around.  But, if you want, I could give you my calculations and formulas from physics!

Heard a few there but never once took them to a church staff meeting or used them on church members, unlike the aforementioned & quoted former pastor of FBCH.

That's the point, now, isn't it?

When I saw the topic of this thread I headed for my file cabinet, and look what I found. Here is the first day of General Teaching Methods, taught by Smellin's mom. After 40 years those notes seem like second nature, but to an 18 year old freshman it was all new and exciting.

I thought, "Wow!  What neatly written notes!"

Then I remembered the above bold-printed words in your post.  Of course the first page of the first day of class is always neat.

That class was one of the best at HAC.

Actually what you see as "neatly written notes" was my study method. My in-class notes were handwritten, and I would recopy them later in my dorm room. My second year I had acquired a typewriter, so I have pages of typewritten notes also. What amazes me is that I still have both copies. Here are some from Tests and Measurements

Now my kids just take their laptops with them and type their notes in class.  Oh the marvels of modern technology. ;D

Invitations are not for the purpose of measuring success, the popularity of the preacher, or the enjoyment of the sermon.

Church Ed

May 16, 1983 - Full page + of class notes.
May 18, 1983 - Full page + of class notes.

In between - May 17, 1983 Must have been a doozy of a list.
My only note reads, "Bro. Ray read a list of tapes from Pastors' School being made available."

Ingredients of a Successful Bus Ministry
# 3 was "It's a Numerical Ministry"

I think Raider was speaker that day.

It's all about the numbers, baby!!

BCH, you need to scan and post some of these complete pages.  :)

I found a "Business Meeting Report." It was a classic. Even before being told hat the item of business was, we were asked to trust Bro. Hyles on this. Give me some time, and I'll come through.

I can see that this thread is a good exercise for you.  :)

It wouldn't matter what he gave, it wasn't what ended up on the test.

I loved the final for History of Christianity.  One of the questions was about the Magna Carta.  We had only gotten to around 700 a.d. or so.
