Here is a thread that could be a lot of fun.  Do any of you still have the notes that you took from classes at HAC?  If you do, please post them.  If you know the teacher, the class name, and the year, that would be great.  You can scan and post, or just enter the notes by hand. We are looking for actual notes that you took while in class, not an "I remember the day when so-and-so said".
*As always, one class and one day of notes per post.  It's all about the numbers, baby!

Free wives' class. Beverly Hyles. Note: a lady should stand with her rear tucked in, as if she'd just been spanked. Knees slightly bent, shoulders back. She had some sort of song, to the tune of "London Bridge" that elaborated all of these points. I have a master's degree in my field...I'd gone to private schools and gotten a very good education. It blew my mind that this was what they were teaching at their college. But...rather than question them, I just assumed I'd missed the boat and while the world was falsely focusing on achievement, talent, education - these were the real life skills that a true Christian lady was supposed to have.  :o

That would teach well today!  :)

Go for it, Raider! Hopefully someone can find the complete lyrics...

SNORT!  I wonder if she still teaches that at her new Southern Baptist Church?

I wonder if they are still teaching this?  I mean, seriously, how can a person take this stuff serious?

They must have thought y'all were really backwards, or something.

I don't know where you  have been or even if you were never a part of fbc during the hyles regime. If you were not then I forgive you and will help fill you in. Jack Hyles said many times, and this is after he had pastored fbc for over 30 years, that he PRACTICED walking up to the pulpit for Sunday services. He said I come in that side door and PRACTICE how I will walk in and up to the pulpit. Now does everything else make a little more sense?

I was there in the mid 80's as a kid running around.  Myself and two others, one of which many on here know, were kicked out of the Haunted House once.

I feel as though, I do know the culture there.  My parents still believe they walk on water.  Although, they haven't attended church regularly in more than 20 years.

My statement was more of............there stupid, I guess.    :)

"Trifles make perfection and perfection is no trifle."

"You can't take the Gospel to the wrong address."

Off subject here because this is not hac notes. Mrs. brainengaged talked about Mrs. Hyles notes and what was taught in a supposedly college level course. I will never forget Jack Trieber on his radio program that (according to him) is broadcast around the world. How to prepare for Sunday:

Cut the church grass.
Hose off the sidewalk.
Clean the buses.
Clean the church.
Vacuum the carpet.
Clean the bathrooms.
Go home and eat supper.
About 5 or 6 pm you need to quiet down your house.
Prepare for Sunday.
Get your shoes shined.
Layout your clothes that you will wear. Don't wait until Sunday morning.
Set the table for Sunday breakfast. Don't wait until Sunday morning.
Go to bed early on Saturday night.
Get up early!
Get dressed.
Get to church early.
Don't you dare come walking in just 5 minutes ahead of time!
Bring a Bible.
A Real Bible. Don't you bring the Bible on an i-pad.

Took an entire radio program. And if you have been blessed by this and wish to contribute to keep this program on the air.................................

When I saw the topic of this thread I headed for my file cabinet, and look what I found. Here is the first day of General Teaching Methods, taught by Smellin's mom. After 40 years those notes seem like second nature, but to an 18 year old freshman it was all new and exciting.

I've still got all of mine. I bet if I dig them up, dust them off, and bring them to my office I will find some real gems...  :D

I thought, "Wow!  What neatly written notes!"

Then I remembered the above bold-printed words in your post.  Of course the first page of the first day of class is always neat.

That class was one of the best at HAC.

I just do not have the time.....but C Laurent Bible class notes could go on for many pages, not with Bible notes but with stuff about elections, nut-case standards & writing letters to the editor of newspapers.

Now this is what we are looking for!
