He’s got an estimated net worth of around 6 million dollars, so I think he’s okay. He wasn’t Garth Brooks or anything, but he definitely already had enough success that he’s quite comfortable.
not exactly a bare foot francis of assissi then.... nor even a disciple wearing sandals... carrying only a staff... but no script, no bread, and no money in his pockets - - not even a change of clothes..... ..... at least not yet.... do you think he will give all that wealth to the poor before taking up his cross and continuing on in the ministry?...

My uncle is a member of the RCC...and my aunt, who used to be married to a youth minister (he lost that when he started cheating on her with a woman at work)...is now an attendee at the RCC. So, I know of two saved people who attend the RCC church in their area. Too many IFB/Militant types like to go overboard and condemn everyone and everything they don't agree with. Too bad for them...they're incorrect, and they drive people from Christ.
One of my older brothers who is most like me of all my brothers is a proverbial Doubting Thomas who had a legitimate born-again experience over a decade ago. The repentant change in who he was as a person became instantly obvious and was sustained. Through the influence of his practicing RC wife he was baptized in the RC church some years later. I attended that service at his request. It was difficult for me to do, but I love him, and believe he is a brother in Christ, despite what I believe to be such a wrong-headed approach to the path of discipleship. I say that to confess that I have long believed that there are many saved people in a variety of worship venues/ecclesiologies that I disagree with to varying extents. And I certainly agree that opinions are often buttholes and armpits (mine included at times 😁), especially like those judgmental and harsh militant types that think they have all the right answers but have a bloated, often ignorant and censorious attitude towards everything unlike those in their own camp.

Agreed. Like I said, he ain’t hurting! He’s not on the same list https://musicmayhemmagazine.com/10-of-the-worlds-richest-country-singers-see-their-net-worth/ as the superstars with net worth of $600+ million, but I wouldn’t classify a guy with a net worth of $6 million as a “poor preacher boy.” Now, all that being said, often rich people can’t get rich enough, so I respect him for walking away from what could have been much more than $6 million in future earnings.

Here's another thought...

Having such wealth, maybe he finances his seminary training then takes a position with a ministry and doesn't need to draw a salary because he's able to live on what he's earned. Just sayin'...

I like that idea, and being a guy who seems humble with a good head on his shoulders, I wouldn’t be surprised. Also, don’t forget this guy will make future earnings off music royalties, and I imagine he might start a second part-time gig singing some Christian country/southern gospel music.

I think this is a better, more realistic approach. He will be able to finance his own missionary endeavors without being dependent upon other Churches or parent organizations. The downside is that financial independence may also equate to operating independently without accountability or oversight. I believe you need to be connected to and accountable to a Local Church regardless of where your funding is coming from.

There have been others who have given all their wealth away and effectively taken a "Vow of Poverty" (like William Borden and others) but is a matter that is strictly between them and God!

Maybe he’ll “take a salary” and donate it back to the church or the sponsored missionaries.
