Seriously,  THE jack Patterson from HAC?

Out of that list  Patterson is the one that jumps out at you?

I do enjoy watching Steve Anderson...you could even say I enjoy watching him for the quality of his preaching. ;)

You mean The Jack Patterson who talked to my judge, took me in, had me memorize scripture, promoted me, personally discipled me, and sent me to Bible College.  The one who has been reclaiming lives for forty years.  The Jack Patterson who takes in convicts, addicts, theives, liars, murderers, rapists, pimps, whores, psychos, and manic-depressives, and has put back hundreds into society, and even the ministry?
Yeah, I admire That Jack Patterson, and know very well better than the trumped up charges of the State of Alabama.

Stuff Fundies Like: Excusing abusers and perverts

Roloff and Patterson took in people sentenced to their homes, like I was, and many of them had to be controlled at times.  Roloff spanked, Patterson doesn't.    Any charges of abuse against Patterson are ridiculous.  I can't speak of Roloff, I never was under him.
I know Jack Patterson as well as anyone on this planet does, and have seen him deal with situations that no one else would want to, and I know his program inside and out.  He doesn't spank, beat, cuff, torture, deprive anyone.  You don't like the program, you go home.
You can repeat some nonsense news story, but no one has witnessed him abuse, or promote abuse.

It's been a bit slow so I figured I would try to come up with some topics to spur conversation. Topic 3:

Stolen from the HAC thread (sorta) - which preachers do you admire?
Do you still think it is slow...?  O0

from the report"...Officers raided the compound and discovered Doug Word bound, in his underwear, on the floor of a dark and padlocked isolation cell. King and his assistant were charged with kidnapping, unlawful neglect, and conspiracy. They pled no contest to false-imprisonment charges and received suspended sentences and probation."
Fundies love to quote Romans 1, but they forget the end of the chapter
Rom 1:29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God

'King, and his assisant' ...ok,what  is your point?
If they pled 'no contest' to a misdemeanor, and recieved  a 'suspended sentence', that means that the State didn't consider them very dangerous now, doesn't it?  The Prosecutor got his 'conviction', and the defense attorney 'kept them out of jail', and collected his 40K.  If the State was willing to drop the kidnapping charge, a felony that carries equal weight to armed robbery in most states, then they 'trumped up' the charges, in the first place, like I originally said.
None of this was Jack Patterson's doing.

I guess that's love for ya'

btw its spelled Anishinaabe.
It is an English transliteration, and is spelled 'Anishnabe',  'Aanishinaabe', or 'Anishinabe' or even 'Anishnabay', depends on who is spelling it.
Since it didn't come from a Romance based language group, or even a written language at all, There is no 'correct' spelling, it's how it sounds that matters.  I see it spelled 3 different ways on the same main drag through the Res.
  What does 'Anishinaabeg' mean?

From the story......"The raid uncovered handguns and rifles, leg irons, and handcuffs; 11 boys were taken into state custody. But because deputies neglected to seize Patterson's computer, which the escapee claimed contained files of videotaped beatings, Patterson was able to plead his felony charges down to a "verbal harassment" misdemeanor carrying a $500 fine."

It was Patterson's camp, he was responsible for the activities that were going on at that "concentration camp". This was to show them the "Love of our Lord"? This is the Gospel? Leg irons and handcuffs? what purpose does this have at a boys camp, not run by the state? Are you kidding me??

Still broke the law and put young men's lives in danger while trying to "give them the gospel".
spoken better by someone else

If more Fundies had their way the would still give Germany glowing reviews like the did in 1934...
From the Baptist World Alliance 1934:
It was a great relief to be in a country where salacious sex literature cannot be sold; where putrid motion pictures and gangster films cannot be shown. The new Germany has burned great masses of corrupting books and magazines along with its bonfires of Jewish and communistic libraries (Watchman-Examiner XXII 37 (September 13, 1934).

See what happens when things go unchecked

It could also mean they didn't have enough evidence to convict (along with a host of other things). Last time I checked, there are plenty of reasons why criminals go free that don't amount to "the State didn't consider them very dangerous".

At this point, he's not even excusing it. He's enthusiastically defending the physical abuse of children.

If, If, If.  If some magical missing video footage had only been recovered...blah, blah.  Jack Patterson never had anyone beaten, or he would have had me beaten.
Someone was locked in a bathroom, wrongfully, by a staff member who freaked when his life was threatened by the 'victim'.  Jack Pattetson didn't tell him to do that, and terminated him when he found out.  That staff member wasn't cut out for that ministry.
There's always more to the story.  I knew when I saw the news story, that it was way overblown  and that JP wasn't involved.  So I spent 2 weeks out of the last 4 with JP, hearing his side, and trying to encourage him.  He shut the homes down there, and has just been placing people in homes as a middle man ,since.  He has been greatly discouraged by this.
You spend 40 years loving the unloveable, and then end up defamed because some trouble maker and some immature staff member combined to mess up your reputation.
The real abusers stay in their place of power, and fight 'the system' that is 'out to get them'.
JP has done no such thing.
Please consider these things, before you judge him.
