Where have you preached?

I gave a tract to retired senior Marine Corps officer who was already a believer. I had written the tract and had contact information on the back of it and he asked me to come to his church where he was the leader of a men's fellowship. They had a pancake breakfast and asked me to speak on what led me to write the tract.  This was a Methodist Church & they had a pancake breakfast in the fellowship hall.  It was a good group of men maybe twenty-five and it gave me an opportunity to preach to them, so of course I gave the gospel and 9 men trusting Christ as Savior.

I preached to a large group of IFB pastors. They all rejected My invitation to stop using personal illustrations as the Gospel as opposed to the actual gospel.

Did you use a personal illustration to emphasize what you meant?

Nothing can replace the gospel & the Holy Ghost in the process of salvation.

During teaching & preaching, personal illustration are very helpful in making a point. Jesus often used stories & parables to get his point across. The Bible can clearly stand alone in conveying Gods intent but I know sometimes a personal example can be very helpful to me. Not everyone likes the same styles of preaching, but I personally like an example or too when my pastor is teaching. To each his own I guess but the last time I heard a preacher who uses expository preaching exclusively, I fell asleep along with most of the other church members. He had a monotone voice, verse, by verse, just like he was reading from a commentary.

Not sure how to post the vid so it plays in the forum, but here it is:  "I've Been Everywhere"
