Whats wrong with our christian schools & how can we fix them.

The goal of Christian education should be vastly different than that of the modern public school system.

The public school system attempts to provide education to help a child move forward in life - education means better jobs.  Thus, the goal is humanist at its core.  Pride of life is the essential motivator.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge."  The goal of Christian education is to help a student see the glory of God through the humanities.  This does not mean that the humanities should be ignored or neglected.  Rather, they should be more deeply discussed as they wondrously display the magnificence of God.  Students are still productive members of society, able to achieve the ability to support their family, able to graduate from college and enter a profession, but have a different world view.

However, our Christian schools have caved to peer pressure.  Sports and other such non-essentials are now controlling the school systems.  American entitlement mentality and pride of life coupled with comparisons have crept in to fundamentally change what the Christian school was originally intended to accomplish.

Now, we have many churches across these states who have a Christian school where little to no education takes place, students are simply buddy-servants to the pastoral staff and games and diversions dominate the day.  The school is simply a "We are not bad like those public school kids" day care to shelter students from the evils of the public school.  Every Christian school touts their kids as the best kids in their community, but, are they?  Or do we simply mean that we are sacrificing to be separated for the sake of being separated and we really have no idea what we are doing here.

Why would you call formal education and then College or trade school huminastic at its core.

This seems absurd. Proverbs speaks of having skills throughout the book. Jesus learned a trade and we see as a young man his pursuit for wisdom. David knew a trade as well as played a harp well & wrote poetry & songs. The Bible commands us to care for our families and in this day and age that often requires "formal education" to land a decent job.

Most of our churches are struggling financially. They are full of members who can hardly support themselves let along support their church and missions abroad. All while we continue to tell our young people education is not important. When & were did this idea come from???

Back up a minute.

Education is not bad.  Education is vital to American's today.  Skills should be learned.  Christians ought to be well-rounded.

However,  The progressive education model of the public school is humanist at its very core.

The Christian school should have a goal of developing the whole student in the image of God by teaching a Christian life perspective.  Proverbs 1:7 is heeded.

These two systems have fundamental differences.  A good Christian education will provide intellectual development and skill sets that will give a student more opportunities in life while developing Christian maturity.

There is no question most public schools do not provide the proper learning environment for Christian young people.

That being said, our Christian schools should provide not only the proper learning environment but superior academics as well.

Any examples of small Christian schools (100 students of less) that are doing a good job and how they are accomplishing it.

Does anyone have some examples of very good or very bad christian schools & your cpomments about them.

Very bad: North Valley Baptist School
My comments: Jack Trieber is a egomaniacal control freak.
