Updates on Scott Gray & his new church.

From Bro. Bob Gray Sr.

"Recently Scott hired a young man to be his School Administrator. The buzz all over the Internet was that I had told Scott to hire this young man.  I have never discussed it with him nor he with me.  He never asked permission from me or his brother to hire this young man nor does he have too.

It is hard for gossipers who have never run a hot dog stand to understand independence.  Independence is healthy as long it is a spiritually healthy individual who possesses it."

Again, I am confused. Did Scott Gray go to pastor a church? Now BG has him running a hot dog stand? What's up with that? ;) ;D

Yes, it's BG who is really confused.

At least we know where to find out what the 'buzz all over the internet' is.  We were in the dark for so long.
Funny thing though, to hear the guy who is always trying to organize the next 'movement' pontificating about independence.

But, alas, one should never miss an opportunity to expose to others his spiritual superiority...("spiritually healthy").

"Buzz all over the internet"????  Give me a break.  It was mentioned on the FFF and received very few responses.  I guess it makes you look important when you make a comment like that.

As much as BG likes to think he is a Dr. Hyles clone, he definitely missed out on one lesson.  Dr. Hyles always said he would not defend himself against his critics.  BG likes to find criticism and blow it up bigger than life.

Because BG said it happens, I guess it is the truth!

I have a little different take on this. It makes me seriously question the credibility of a lot of Christian Schools when they hire a guy like this to be the administrator. He is an excellent athlete and if they wanted to have him try teaching and coaching that would be one thing. This is another.

And I've seen him firsthand at coaching. Very knowledgeable. If he remembers to show up. And if his wife doesn't need something printed at half time.

TW had an overnight activity to Cedar Point that the jh kids earned as a prize throughout the spring program his last week at FBC. He was going to not take them until a couple of people got involved and told him that he had to take them and he couldn't just move away and expect them not to remember. Probably a good thing he is going to NC. Whoever takes his place will just have to show up on time and it will be an improvement.

These guys have no manhood.  They could not support their family outside of the Hyles bubble if their life depended on it.  smh

I think that people can do a lot of things that we don't give them credit for simply because they have never "had" to. I think that TW will wind up on his feet because he is in a position where he now "has" to. When he was at fbch he didn't really "have" to do anything outside of pleasing his wife and fil. But, time will tell.

I guess what I was saying, is that outside of ministry they have no abilities. They are unable to provide for their families in the seculiar world, where they would actually have to produce.  Scott's church IMO is
still the Hyles bubble.

TW's dad taught at HBHS and was always in his own world; his mind was always out in limbo. He continuously chugged from a bottle of  Listerine that he kept in his desk drawer.  Lots of weird things that you still remember 33 yrs later.  Like father, like son!!??

Cindy Schaap is going with them.  Now that's going to be competition between Mrs. Gray and Mrs. Schaap (Cindy).  Cindy said Kenny is staying put at FBC.  Wonder who'll FBC will replace him with since he runs the junior high department.

It does not appear Mrs. Hyles has overshadowed anyone in Texas. She jumped in head first & is serving in whatever capacity they needed her in. I suspect the senior ladies love her class.

I assume Mrs. Schapp following her moms lead will do much the same. Both her and jaclyn have many abilities Bro. Gray may choose to use in his ministry. I don't see a power struggle here at all.

As for BOB GRAY, Scott has not always sought his dads advice when he already knew what God wanted him to do. I suspect it will be the same inow. He is his own man & has been making his own decesions for a long time now. I suspect the church will continue to grow. I look forward to seeing what God will do.

There was such a pronounced and remarkable difference between the goodbye letters written by Jaclyn Weber and Cindy Schaap. Jaclyn read her own letter, with a sweet smile. It was warm, tender, gracious, kind, loving, thoughtful, sincere, honest and not self-centered. Then Pastor W read Cindy's letter, which was very true to what I always got from her. Namely, that there is no 'there' there. It was cold, trite, distant, full of excuses, insincere, etc. It paled terribly in comparison to her daughter's letter. I just wonder...really, what skills do you see CS as having to offer? Will the power / allure of her name ever wear off and allow people to see her as she really is?

I guess why does FBC really care about a resignation letter from Cindy & Jacklyn, it's up to Todd who is employed by the church.  Has Cindy sold her house or is she just leaving it?

Word is out Cindy can't sell till November 2013.

If I am not mistaken Mrs. Hyles attends a SBC.  The majority if not all of the membership do not know who Hyles or Mrs. Hyles are.

Even more reason for FBC, Dallas to love her even more.  She's not riding any coat-tails and not associated with anyone.  She's first class all the way through!

I personally wondered why Jaclynn even had to give or read a statement? It all sounded child like to me,... It took me back to when she and Todd got married in that Camelot style wedding, the royals addressing the peasants. I will say she has held her head up high during all of this, although it does seem to have aged her appearance a bit. No one can fault that to be honest. Word is when TW heard what happened with JS he began to vomit, or almost did. I wonder if he was beginning to realize his free ride was over?

Cindy's letter, again to me, was a sad one, a moving on type of note. What else could it be? I wish we knew the full story of what happened behind closed doors but I guess that never will happen.

You are correct. Most people that are not in the IFB puddle have no idea who Jack Hyles is or was. This is certainly true at a church like First Dallas. I have been to several of these SBC churches and asked people if they had ever heard of Jack Hyles. Very few recalled who he was even after I gave them some of his history.
There was a day when the largest churches in any state were IFB.
This is no longer the case. The IFB puddle has just about evaporated.
Mrs. Hyles teaches a ladies SS class that is listed on the First Dallas web site.
In the thread Mrs. Hyles and the kids there is video of her at First Dallas during hand shaking time.

I disagree.  Yes, there have been a lot of IFB churches that have gone another direction, but I believe there is still a strong remnant of true to the Word of God IFB.
Now, Hyles type churches, yes there are fewer and fewer.  As I have stated before, there are a great many IFB churches that have never wanted to be associated with the "HYLES MOVEMENT".  They have never sent their teenagers to any of the youth conferences.  You know the Capaci's or the Gomez's or the Jenkins type, which is the "HYLES MOVEMENT".  IMO.
