Had a long day today. Was able to witness to a 20 year old man named Nolan who bowed his head, accepting Christ as his Saviour.
July and August have been quite profitable in soul-winning.
I really enjoy getting to give out the gospel.
Today as I explained the gospel to this young man, I used Ephesians 2:8,9.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
I used an illustration that I just experienced yesterday as we visited Amish country near Massillon, OH.
We attended a local tractor pulling contest.
I asked one of the Amish locals to explain to me how the contest worked.
In conclusion of the explanation, he mentioned that there is no prize payout to the winners, just bragging rights for the best tractor and driver!
I mentioned that one of the reasons that we are saved by grace through faith was that if we were saved by our works, we would have bragging rights up in heaven, which would constitute pride.
We would have, in essence, bragging rights.
It wouldn't be salvation by Christ's death, burial and resurrection, and shed blood, it would be salvation by our own accomplishments, hence, something we could brag about.
You could see the comprehension in his eyes.
I am quite humbled that God would use me for this glorious venture.
