The Truth About Jack Hyles

I never got it why would you make an announcement on how many souls were saved? We are doing it for the Lord why tell your numbers ?

It is the favorite promotion method of the modern neo-fundamentalist performance based Christianity.

It is pride on parade.

After watching the videos I wonder if this guy actually was a fan of Dr. Hyles. The only explanation for his complete and utter failure is that he was a plant so people can say, "See, Dr. Hyles' enemies are idiots!" Was it all a setup?

Seriously, on a Hyles-fan line from Ray Young to Robert Sumner I am probably much closer to the Sumner side but I had no problems giving a rebuttal to almost every point.

I'm not big on posting numbers of salvation but nor am I against it either as God posted numbers in both the NT and the OT.  Some of you super sanctimonious saints would probably rebuke God for telling us how many got saved at Pentecost and how many people in Nineveh were spared because they repented.

Great point, but then God has never been One to speak "evangelistically".

Didn't watch any of the videos in length.  Watched the first to the point he picked up his goofy labeled Bible - laughed my fool head off and turned it off.  I just skimmed through number four because of the note about alot of church shots.

How messed up is "Captain Suspenders" that he goes to the man's funeral to ridicule the man?  What is it about "This Is My Story" that Captain Suspenders finds so disgusting?  Look pal, shave (or even clean) your beard, get rid of the Paul Bunyon wannabe suspenders, take your homemade sign off your Bible and maybe someone will take you seriously - maybe.  Attacking someone for their funeral?  That's a clown move, brah!

I wonder if the folks taking issue to the reporting of numbers saved feel the same way as I do.  It's not the numbers, per se, it's the "I" statement that usually accompanies it.  After all:

1 Corinthians 3:5-7:

5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

I think the point is that that numbers are fine when  the Holy Spirit records them; as humans, we should be concerned with the glory of God, and not making ourselves look good.

When you compare yourselves by yourselves among yourselves, you are not wise.
When you make the comparison into a contest, you lose all Heavenly Reward.

So foolish IFB all over, will be very rudely awakened at the Judgement Seat of Christ.

Jack Hyles was a very foolish man.

This conclusion is unavoidable.

Okay, I watched what I could stomach,... I know personal attacks aren't a rebuttal but my man "Breaking Amish" there is a turd,.... Just saying,....

I have watched parts 1 and 2.  This guy is a nut case.  While he brings out some truth, the video is full of misinterpreted clips and statements.

By the time I made it to video 3, I was just jumping past it... This guy while he has some valid points... Easiest way to say it is he is a jackass.

Was I the only one that was laughing at all of the "Country living" books behind him

I just watched Part 3.  This dude reaches a new level of stupid.  I don't think he has a sense of humor.  Talk about twisting video clips.

I don't believe what this guy said either - he seemed to be trying too hard to make his point.

However...

As Christians, we are exhorted to do whatever we do to the glory of God.  It is very bad practice for church leaders to get up and exalt one another to the skies, and never mention God.  It is God who deserves the glory and honor, not the pastor or staff member, even on special occasion.

Don't forget Rom. 13.

The gov. is due honor as well.

That'll win me some friends.

I just finished Part 4.  This clown gets stranger and stranger with every part.  Part 4 is the strangest of all.  He even gets a bit angry at the 27:08 point.  After watching all 4 parts i would say:

*He has an ax to grind with Hyles because of something in his past.  Jack Hyles or a HAC student has upset this fellow somewhere along the way.

*He has a strong view of repentance.

*He has not been involved with FBCH or HAC closely for any period of time.

*He cannot separate humor from seriousness.

*Is that Ruckman's Commentaries on the upper shelf behind him?

*He has a problem with twisting events and making them say what he wants them to say.

*He is a stinkin' (I love that word) idiot!!

Like I said in a previous post, he has a few (VERY few) good points to his video.  His stupidity drowns out the good points.

I'm not disputing that; my point was directed at those who try to excuse some of the statements by saying "it was a special occasion" or "they were merely joking".
