The data for this chart was pulled directly from Ohio's official COVID website. To me, it looks like completed vaccine % has no effect on the number of hospitalizations. Am I misunderstanding?
I'm not sure. The problem is that the vaccine isn't the only variable. In that same time period a much more contagious variant emerged (and so far the peak is much smaller than the peak with the less contagious variant). Also many people stopped hiding out and returned to a somewhat more routine schedule. It seems the vaccinated don't make up a large portion of those hospitalizations.

Isreal is 90% vaxed and is having a huge problem.
Shouldn't the curves match or at least closely follow each other if vaccinations are the answer?
Vaccines aren't going to provide any protection to those who don't take them. You can see from the stat boxes above the vaccinated made up about 3% of hospitalizations. My assumption would be that mainly a more contagious variant wreaking havoc on the unvaccinated would be the main culprit in the chart not looking the way you would like for it to. But there are other variables to, so it may be more than just that.

Can you give us a direct link to where you saw this chart? To me, the yellow line looks like it just represents the total percentage of people vaccinated and doesn’t mean they are hospitalized.
