Interesting enough I have had Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses and Evangelicals at my door trying to win me to their faith. Never had a Muslim try to convert me. Worked with quite a few Muslims and they never tried to convert me either. It is about 1% of the population. I grew up IFB and remember the preaching on how the Communists were going to take over by 1976. We would never see the Bi-Centennial. Just like this is was a case of misplaced fear.

He claimed a student received a failing grade fore refusing to write an essay arguing that Bush was a war criminal. It turned out that there was not an essay and the said student received a passing but poor grade for not doing well on the test. The professor (Robert Dunkley) he claimed was so liberal was a Republican.

He also claimed a biology teacher at Penn State showed a movie just before the 2004 election to influence the election. He had to retract that claim.

There is a fifty page report from Free Exchange showing Horowitz's books contain factual errors,unsubstantiated assertions and quotations which appear to be either misquoted or taken out of context.

I can see where you and Horowitz would be on the same page of fear when it came to Muslims. Horowitz accused the Muslim Students Association  of supporting a second Holocaust of the Jews. In reality the Muslim Students Association had been involved in interfaith activities with Jewish student groups and in charity work or national disaster relief.

First of all, it isn't "historic Christianity" but rather "American Christianity". I choose to follow Jesus to the best of my ability rather than Paul or any other biblical penman. Second, it wasn't Hyles that drove me away, I left 25 years AFTER I left Hyles and did so because of American Evangelicalism. (People on these forums were influential in my seeing behind the Evangelical curtain, for which I am thankful. ) Third, I'm not defending Islam; I'm defending peoples' rights to practice peaceful Islam. It is wrong to throw stones at them but what did they think was going to happen when the went to a cultural festival and mock people. Both police and some Muslims adults tried to keep the groups separated. The "preachers went looking for problems".

One of the things that influenced my perspective on peaceful Muslims is their behavior during the Baltimore riots. If there was ever a time to destroy stuff, hurt people, attack police, etc, that was the perfect time and place to do it. Yet they formed street patrols and backed rioters off the police lines. The Baltimore riots had the potential of being so much worse but the Muslim influence in the street, standing between protestors and police actually helped subdue the situation.

The other American city you mentioned was Minneapolis. I was more than surprised when you called Minneapolis a hellhole. My step-son and his family live in downtown Minneapolis (Grant Street). I have been to Minneapolis three times in the last six months.  It is a beautiful city with many wonderful amenities. I would consider it the antithesis of a hellhole.

The interesting part is the city is 70% Christian. If you combine Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism combined they are only 5% of the population.  The state of Minnesota is home to the largest Somali community in the United States.

There is a news article about one car owned by a person with a Muslim sounding name that contained a hand grenade, rifles and ammunition. The man was charged with a gross misdemeanor for carrying a pistol in public without a permit.

There is one Muslim man who was driving around a neighborhood where many Somalis live telling Somali women what they can wear and telling Somalis not to drink. He made Muslims upset and was told by Muslim leadership to stop. He was also told by police that he would be charged with trespass if he continued.

I do think you are wrong in calling Minneapolis  hellhole.

I'm in Dearborn several times a year.

Anecdote alert:

My Cousins in Dearborn are Punjabi/Native American.
They are dark-skinned, and look very similar to Pakistani.
However, they are persecuted because they are not Muslim.

Yes, there is a lot to appreciate in their culture.
No, God is not tolerant of their rejection of Christ and His Church, and will not pity them on judgement day.

I am torn.

I want to restart the Crusades, to defend the weak from their tyranny.
I also want to reach the masses of people, just born Muslim, with the Gospel.

Dearborn was quick to to debunk that there is Sharia Law in Dearborn. No one has been stoned to death and no woman has ever been beaten for not being covered. They have heavy metal concerts, baseball games and bars where you can get a drink. They also have churches.

A video was posted of Muslims stoning Christian Street Preachers. Of course there is always more to the story. The street preachers were lead by Ruban Israel. Look at his website and you can see he takes great delight in being provocative and getting arrested. The "preachers" had a pig head on a pole. Israel told police they have it because Muslims are petrified of pigs and it keeps them at bay. They shout at the people they are going to hell and their religion is a lie. It is wrong to throw stones at them but what did they think was going to happen when the went to a cultural festival and mock people. Both police and some Muslims adults tried to keep the groups separated. The "preachers went looking for problems".
