The Hacker Thread about Absolutely Nothing Particular!

Over dinner, a Godly Pentecostal pastor explained that a Godly woman in his church (whom we are friends with) is having trouble with all of her children. The Godly woman keeps forcing strict rules on her kids, and they are taught to fear God but not to love Him.

This is an occasional problem with believing that you can lose your salvation. Some Arminians always choose the hard way only because it IS the hard way. They are afraid of losing their salvation if they don't.

That sounds more like Wesleyan-Arminianism than it does reformed Arminianism. And I see far more in the IFB world trying to earn their way than I do in Wesleyan-Arminian denominations. Most in those denominations don't even know they are Arminian. I was in Sunday school class one time at a Free Will Baptist church. He had been a member for 2-3 years. Had no idea that Free Wills believed you could reject your salvation.

Was talking to a group of men at a church who only accepted "Baptist" baptism. "You'll even take Freewill Baptist baptism?" "Sure. If it's Baptist it's good". They had no idea.

So the Free Wills that I used to be a part of were nearly identical to IFB. About 50% of the evangelists and special speakers were IFB. They seemed particularly fond of West Coast Bible College. So if you asked them about "losing" your salvation, they would tell you that in most cases the person was likely never saved to begin with. They would hold to the possibility of renouncing or rejecting your salvation but would claim it a very rare thing. My pastor back then would often say as long as you are trusting in Christ you are eternally secure. I believe the reason he repeated this so often was because when the IFB evangelists would come in and make mention of eternal security most of the congregation would assume they were saying the same thing.

One of the prominent Free Wills where I lived at the time was Raleigh First Free Will that later changed their name to Beacon Baptist. Last I knew the pastor was still involved with South Eastern Free Will Baptist Bible College. What's interesting is that pastor is now a frequent speaker at Sword of the Lord conferences. Not sure if he has changed his mind on eternal security or just really deemphasized it.

Losing your salvation is not a big deal.

After all, it will never happen.

Every four years, Jack Hyles preached the same sermon: "America Will Survive." He hasn't been wrong yet, and he won't be wrong this time either.

We'll be all right.

Says the man who lives in Mexico.

While technically correct is it the same America that existed when he first preached the message? Venezuela has "survived" its shift from prosperous democracy to a socialist/communist country ran by a dictator. While they were the wealthiest in South America, now they have to pay a months wages for a loaf of bread.

A great comparison.

To say America is the same today as it was 50 years ago is pure lunacy.

THIS JUST IN!

Scientists report that America is still in place! Experts predict that the US will survive!

We'll be all right.

Poorer with higher taxes but we'll be alright.
Less safe with defunded and demonized law enforcement offers but we'll be allright.
Less safe as we are told we must permit BLM and Antifa groups to burn our communities to the ground in the name of "peaceful protest"
Less safe as our overlords decide we can't be trusted with firearms but we'll be alright.
Less privacy with social media companies showing what a great partner they make for the leftists but we'll be alright.
Less safe and fewer jobs with free for all illegal immigration but we'll be alright.
Less freedoms as Kamala takes power and determines what language is permitted and is not permitted but we'll be alright.

Looks like we'll be alright just like Venezuela.

A Russian spy plane flying off the coast of Alaska reported that it cannot see Sarah Palin's back yard, but it did confirm that the United States is still there.

Brethren, over the decades I've seen several of my candidates win and several of them lose. But America always survived.

We'll be okay, Folks.

Odd day, today. We are illegally holing church services with over 100 people, when churches are not allowed to have over 50 in attendance. We lost our van driver when his wife made a failed bid to seize control of the church van route. But God gave us 12 kids in my SUV, which is a record high for this church.

Nope. I don't believe it. He ain't "Godly" unless he a hell-fire-damnation, Bible-preachin, bus-runnin, hymn-singin, suit and tie-wearin, revival-meetin, soul-winnin, Independent Fundamental BAPTIST!

You're right, BC. I'll have to get on him about not wearing a suit and tie when he preaches.
