I just read most the of the thread at the other forum where Wtyson and Invictus argued.  Vic was out of hand with his name calling, but he is right. Absolutely.

The bible does not command people to go door to door soul winning.  It only commands us to preach the gospel to all nations.

Vic made me laugh.  Wtyson looked like a fool for not just admitting that it does not say that.

The title of the thread is Tebow.

Vic was right about that issue. Door to door is just one of the many tools that can be used to reach people. I think a lot of christians would be shocked to find out that a lot of the stuff they are told are commands are really not biblical commands.

I saw what Vic was doing. he was goading Wtyson.  Trying to incite him to do whatever.  It was hilarious.  If Wtyson would have just manned up and admitted that he was wrong, Vic would have laughed.

I've enjoyed Vic's posts. I hope he does come over here. I do like this format way better than over there though.

It really doesn't. Our best example of instructions on how to do it is when Jesus sent out the 12 and the 70 (don't remember which came first), and that wasn't part of the orders for either mission.

I would say one of the worst things about this kind of thing is when leadership tries to make out like you are a subpar christian for not using certain tools of evangelism.

The only tool I use, is the Bible.  :)

And I didn't even read one thing on that thread because I figured it was something else about Tim Tebow and I am Tim Tebowed out.

I pulled this from the thread posted by wtyson...

"As I have said to you many, many times and you seem to not get it through your think head...We are COMMANDED to preach the gospel to every creature. Door to door is one way or method we acccomplish this command. You have to go where the people are Vic...period."

As far as Vic's technique...

Let not then your good be evil spoken of: Romans 14:16

YOU don't need a tool....you ARE a tool......

Close ...you just need to change the first letter of "tool" and you have her pegged!

In my experience the problem isn't that people in the church are using a different tool of evangelism. It is that they aren't using any tool of evangelism. They stand there and beam for Jesus and think they are fulfilling the Great Commission. I make no bones about the fact that I promote door to door personal evangelism, but I'd be thrilled if my people openly and actively witnessed in any format. The problem is that most of them don't, period...and that IS, in your words, sub-par Christianity.

Well it may be true that "door to door" is not commanded, but don't any of you dare say that Bus ministries are not commanded in Scripture!!!! ;D 8)

Good post...agreed!

Door to Door

I've always had to earn an audience with total strangers.  I've also found that most people resent the intrusion of total strangers claiming to care for their personal soul, showing up on their doorstep.
Am I truly trying to earn an audience when I obviously don't respect their privacy?

I've also occasionally run into that lonely outcast who is desperate for attention of even strangers. I've found such on the telephone.

Now there's some wisdom.

Honest question.

In our rural community, if I am to obey the "every creature" command, how do I get the gospel to "every creature" -- achieve gospel saturation -- without going door to door?

"achieve gospel saturation" ?  ;D

Matt 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

When folks spend all their time at church and church-sponsored activities they tend to not see other means of evangelism as plausible. How else would they interact with the unsaved?

There are options.

Get to know your neighbors. Lend them a hand if they need one. When a neighbor is hurt or sick, bring them over dinner for a while. If they are spending Christmas alone, invite them to your house so they can see how you celebrate the Savior.

Coach a community sports team. You get to meet lots of families this way and provide a positive influence for kids. My pastor recently mentioned this as a great avenue for evangelism.

Volunteer at a shelter, food bank, or food kitchen. You will interact with the unsaved a lot.

Instead of spending all your time with those at your church, get out into the community and let your light so shine before men that they see your good works and how they glorify God.

My pastor has recently introduced these evangelism programs to our church and is currently seeking volunteers. I have not seen these programs in action yet:
