Tell me...

Looking at that photo reminds me of what happened in Jonestown.

Was that actually handed out somewhere, or is it someone's photoshop?
That was actually handed out to the Youth.
This is not a drill.
We are actually in a child endangering cult.

I never got why anyone thought this guy was a preacher to even follow. When I was there we'd have said, "He can't preach his way out of a paper bag."

It was apparently handed out 5-6 years ago in chapel after a sermon on loyalty.
LOYALTY TO js? Do what?

The old song (for you old fashioned crowd) says:
From over hill and plain there comes the signal strain,
’Tis loyalty, loyalty, loyalty to Christ;
Its music rolls along, the hills take up the song,
Of loyalty, loyalty, yes, loyalty to Christ.

Refrain

“On to victory! On to victory!”
Cries our great Commander, “On!”
We’ll move at His command,
We’ll soon possess the land,
Through loyalty, loyalty,
Yes, loyalty to Christ.

O hear, ye brave, the sound that moves the earth around,
’Tis loyalty, loyalty, loyalty to Christ;
Arise to dare and do, ring out the watchword true,
Of loyalty, loyalty, yes, loyalty to Christ.

Refrain

Come, join our loyal throng, we’ll rout the giant wrong,
’Tis loyalty, loyalty, loyalty to Christ;
Where Satan’s banners float we’ll send the bugle note,
Of loyalty, loyalty, yes, loyalty to Christ.

Refrain

The strength of youth we lay at Jesus’ feet today,
’Tis loyalty, loyalty, loyalty to Christ;
His Gospel we’ll proclaim, throughout the world’s domain,
Of loyalty, loyalty, yes, loyalty to Christ.

Sung to or very similar to  "The Farmer in the Dell."

We (my husband and I) have been suspicious of this meme from the start...yes, it was pretty much the prevailing sentiment, but it is a little too much even for "the way we were" at FBC.

We showed it to some college age and high school age kids yesterday at church, and no one remembers it being given out. One boy said he's sure it was photoshopped.

"Give yourself to him"....ugh! Makes your flesh crawl, doesn't it?

I almost spit my cereal out all over my phone reading this.

1.  I pulled the file up in photoshop and checked the registrations.  The image at the top is slanted down by 5 pixels. Not a big deal however the letters slant up by 3 pixels.  That is quite strange.  That is 8 pixel difference.  Quite suspicious.

2.  So I ran it through some photoshop checkers and they determined that it was not of original origins.    Meaning someone did not just scan this from somewhere.

I highly doubt an originator would put it out there from there source material for consumption on the internet so based on this and the queries I also asked if anyone had ever seen it has me believing that it is a fabrication.

There is enough goofy sycophantical junk without someone having to make this up so I don't get it.

Let's just say some people there became "professional cover-ups" in both their own personal lives and the lives of superiors.

And that's all I have to say about that...

I believe Clyde knew everything..........

Shame on those that knew, but did not tell because they did not want to "hurt the cause of Christ".

I most definitely agree but there were some who kept the secrets because they wanted the skeletons in their own personal tunnels (pun intended) to stay there so the secrecy was mutual.

Interesting............not the "tunnel" part.  :)

Kaba, I so agree with you. I don't think it is a secret that we are not perfect, and it is not to be expected that everyone will always do right.

What I think causes me to look serious askance (and I believe this to be true for others as well) is how matters are dealt with when right is not done. Sweep it under the rug! Maintain silence! Look the other way! Defend the accused even when guilty! Malign the accuser even when right! We must not hurt the cause of Christ by being truthful about anything...

Tides of Truth touched on the lack of church discipline somewhere in one of these threads. If wrong were to be brought to light, admitted, and dealt with...it would cleanse, it would restore, it would serve as an example.

Instead wrong is left to fester in dark little secret corners, to be whispered about, to be known about, to gain a life of its own and to encourage profligateness to abound...

I would also contend that silence was a demonstration of loyalty and that loyalty was the most rewarded trait.

It just saddens me to see those that have been hurt by the abuse from HAC/FBC. So many have turned from the Lord and want nothing to do with "religion" I am so thankful for strong, balanced Christian parents. I was hurt in my own way at HAC, but nothing so bad to turn my heart from God. I have no patience for those that enabled the continual abuse from there.
