I want to be careful with this topic because I believe the Lord's work is the greatest work and should be taken seriously.  With that being said, when I was a student at HAC there were some staff and faculty members that seemed to take themselves too seriously.  They were given a job or position and it seemed to go to their head.  You just wanted to say, "lighten up".  Do you remember these folks?  Yes, we will name names!  :)

Every bus captain in Division 5.

Everyone has different levels of humor, and find different styles of humor funny.

While I believe that God has a sense of humor, I do not appreciate jokes or other things that make like of Him.  He is worthy of our greatest praise and adoration, and should not be made the subject of jokes.

I've always liked the 3rd Doctor quote that goes something like "I'm very serious about WHAT I do; however, I'm not that serious about HOW I do it."

Doug Kalapp, in his younger years.

Later in life he had such a humility I did not remember and he was delightful to be around.

I was never on staff but after hearing Max Helton preach on how HAC could become another Harvard (leaving their Christian roots), I turned in someone for listening to the Carpenters!

I really took things way too seriously.

Forty years later, all I can do is shake my head.

Wow, I guess it depends on your point-of-view.  I always found him a loose cannon, willing to chase a rabbit trail with just a little prodding.  The problem with that is then you don't know his quiz answers because he never covered the material.

Unless he's changed, and mellowed (matured) with age, he still is a loose cannon.  Just watch his video from Crown College.

No joke----

Around 1975, they made a rule that if a student were put on staff, such as janitor or dish washer, the other students had to refer to the student as "Mr." or "Miss." This included room mates. The rule was so ridiculed that they dropped it after a couple of weeks.

Just so we're all on the same page, it's "MR." RAIDER to you.

The church secretaries when speaking in Church Ed.

Example: "We don't have a Jack here at FBC, we have a Dr. H.........."

Jack Hyles!  I still remember him saying that hac was the only hope for America. That all of America had her eyes on fbch. If fbch went down, America was going down. etc etc
