The repentance "battle" was so tiring. Bro. Hyles did his best to try to mediate by hosting conferences.  If I recall correctly, Corle/Revival Fires was pretty passive about the whole situation, while Gomez/Taylor were charging hell with a squirt-gun.  I remember one time during a conference, Randy Taylor kept referring to Revival Fires as Revival Smoke....figured it was just his napoleon complex kicking in until I had the opportunity to talk with him and determined he was just a jerk in general.

If I remember correctly Corle/Gomez/Taylor were in agreement.  Bob Gray was on the other side.  I remember hearing Gray call them "Batman, Robin, and their side kick".  Taylor ran with Corle and Gomez.

Who was the little arrogant preacher guy then that was hot against Corle? Could have sworn it was Taylor, but I think you are right (not positive about Gomez though).

Gomez, arrogant yes, little no.

Gomez wasn't against Corle.  He was quite the opposite.

Gomez's wife was a virgin when they got married.

How would you know something so intimately private as that, hummmm?

Or is this sarcasm?

Because he said it in one of his sermons.

He thought it was important enough to say in a sermon sooooo, I just try and spread this news every single time his name is brought up.

lol bravo,

Ok, that's what I thought, I would not believe anything coming from that individual.

I have a history with him from his days at HAC, that's all I want to say about him.

I would however believe the exact opposite of what he asserted. I pity that poor women.

We definitely agree here my brother! I feel very sorry for that woman.

Qwerty,
My quote feature hasn't worked lately, on Tapatalk.

The man who preached on "Strange Fire" and said : "We don't need revival smokes, we need the true fire."  was Mike Haynes.
He came with Gray and some others and they attacked Vinyard, Corle, and us students for listening to them.

JH went to the GSA in Elgin (Gomez), and preached "Misunderstood Repentance".
Taylor got up afterwards, and unpreached the sermon during the invitation.
Of course, JH slipped out as soon as he said " let's pray", so he never heard the rebuttal.

It was the only time JH ever preached a sermon away from home, and then re-preached it at home.

Thanks, I saw the name mentioned in the honary doctorate thread and it jogged my memory, you beat me to this thread.

It was a really confusing time for students, especially the newer Christians. To see these folks with really no influence outside of IFBdom fighting among themselves. One of the things you have to credit Schaap with was trying to let those stupid battles go from the Hyles era... and the new one from Neal's groupies. About all you can give him credit for....
