Teenagers should most definitely never “make eye babies!”
I wear a swimming shirt regardless of who is present. It's called, "Dress for the body you have, not the one you wish you had."Boys: You must wear a T-shirt in the pool with girls present!
For those who didn’t grow up in an IFB environment (particularly pre-21st century), my posts will probably just cause confusion and head scratching, but for those who did grow up IFB, they’ll totally get it. By the way, I’m not trying to bash IFB, just posting some of the peculiarities that are very IFB.I wear a swimming shirt regardless of who is present. So it's safe to assume you don't own any Speedos?I wear a swimming shirt regardless of who is present. It's called, "Dress for the body you have, not the one you wish you had."
You better pray I don't.So it's safe to assume you don't own any Speedos?
I have been in IFB Churches where they did not believe in wearing shorts or swimsuits even to go swimming - Mixed or not! They would go into the ocean and swim fully clothed (pants and T-Shirt). Women would wear T-Shirt (with a bra of course) and culottes for swimming and would only do so if men were not around! For those who didn’t grow up in an IFB environment (particularly pre-21st century), my posts will probably just cause confusion and head scratching, but for those who did grow up IFB, they’ll totally get it. I get it. I "swam" with the PCC crowd nearly 40 years ago.For those who didn’t grow up in an IFB environment (particularly pre-21st century), my posts will probably just cause confusion and head scratching, but for those who did grow up IFB, they’ll totally get it. Their own private wet T shirt contest, eh?Women would wear T-Shirt (with a bra of course) and culottes for swimming and would only do so if men were not around!
Or nightmares for everyone else...May be good for a laugh at your expense!
As I said, pretty sure they wore bras but "mixed bathing" is strictly taboo in the IFB world and men WERE NOT to be around when the women folk went swimming so this is not a fact I can verify for certain!Their own private wet T shirt contest, eh?
Mixed bathing was very taboo in any church sponsored activities, but it did in fact occasionally happen on rare occasions in non sponsored church activities. I know when I was a teenager I was made to wear a T-shirt if church girls were present at a pool or the ocean. If we were just on vacation and around non-church members, I was allowed to go buck wild with my shirt off.As I said, pretty sure they wore bras but "mixed bathing" is strictly taboo in the IFB world and men WERE NOT to be around when the women folk went swimming so this is not a fact I can verify for certain!
Standard issue white T shirts go transparent when wet. We all know that. I also know about the mixed bathing thing. One thing I did like about separate bathing was there were no inhibitions among guys in the pool games we played. We were free to abandon every safety rule! Jousting matches were the order of the day. I was a preferred "steed" because of my physical size and stamina. Great memories...As I said, pretty sure they wore bras but "mixed bathing" is strictly taboo in the IFB world and men WERE NOT to be around when the women folk went swimming so this is not a fact I can verify for certain!
That one makes me chuckle. Yes, I remember that standard. Around Y2K, I got to listening to a radio station that was part of the outreach of a major IFB church in the region. During their live broadcast Sunday services one time, the music minister got up and said there was nothing wrong with drums during worship so long as they were appropriately used. Apparently, their definition of appropriate was the same rat-a-tat-tat of a snare during worship.Members: the presence of drums in any church music is strictly prohibited. (However, we’ll make a couple of yearly pastoral-approved exceptions for the inclusion of a kettledrum with our patriotic-themed songs around the July 4th service and, possibly, for Memorial Day.)
