I'm still working through this but it seems that only some of the Law was for Gentiles. As God lays out the Law, He would periodically mention that certain ones would apply to the "stranger in the land" or the "sojourner". When Paul came to James at the Council concerning circumcision (Acts 21), the Council properly interpreted the law. Circumcision was listed for the Jews only (Gen. 17:11; Lev. 12:3, Josh. 5:2) meaning the Gentiles were not expected to comply. However, James also mandated certain parts of the Law were to be adhered to and the Law does mention the "stranger" or "sojourner" to comply (Leviticus 17:10,12, Lev. 20:2, 10.) So it appears that the Gentiles were not expected to keep the whole Mosaic Law but only those portions which the Law itself applied to them. This would exclude Gentiles from the ceremonial rituals, I believe. Again, still doing more study on it myself.

And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,

CHRIST HIMSELF would have done it after his resurrection and before the ASCENSION. We are talking about just a few days later Peter gets a bright idea to do it himself. Peter had no right to do what he did. No authority. He even made his choice by casting lots. Assuming that Christ would want the same manner used.

Wow!  Now we know who to go to in order to find out "What Would Jesus Do"!

What I said was obvious. In fact, its far more obvious than believing that Paul cast out devils by the power of Satan. Would you agree?

Why target me?

Peter did other things that show that he sometimes rejected wise choices. Like when he made the decision to focus on "the Word of God" instead of serving.

Act 6:2  Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

He must have forgotten what His Master had taught him.

Luk 22:26  But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
Luk 22:27  For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

Smellin Coffee has been having some doubts for some time now. He was in the Non-believers forum over there for quite awhile.

This is what happens when one experiences or questions troubling experiences within "church - Christianity" and has questions. Questions are okay. Just make sure you go to the right place for answers.

I had a conversation with a noted atheist named Dan Barker on radio a couple of years ago. He appears from time-to-time on Cable news channels when his group -The Freedom from Religion Foundation- sue a city or school over a nativity or other Christian symbolism in the public arena. He has written a couple of books I have read. What makes his story fascinating is he started out as an evangelical music pastor. For over 20 years he engaged in full time ministry including writing cantatas which are still being performed in Christian churches. He had questions about the return of Christ which finally led him to a full renuniciation of his faith. He divorced his wife and married the daughter of a noted atheist and ally of Madilyn Murray OHare.

The President of American Atheists sent me a nasty email for grilling Dan on the disavowing his Christian faith.

His story, as I haved discovered, is a common one. There is a nasty ahteist who posts a youtube blog who also claims to be a former Christian. His questions started over the authenticity of Jesus Himself. Claiming that no other historical record of that time records or reports His existence, crucifixion, etc accept the Bible.

Incorrect and Sad.

SC and I debated Soveriegnty when he argued God was the author of evil since He placed Adam and Eve in a no win situation.

Pretty good advice for someone who looked for the answers with another man's wife.................................... so what is your advice regarding the sin of adultery?  What a hypocrite. :)

Slow learner?  With all the grammar/spelling errors in your two line post, it is obvious that you have wasted a very poor bible kawlage edukation.  :)

That's your response you queen? Lol,  typical BB.

I believe Genesis 1-11, Psalm 23, John 3:16 are God breathed...I'm still meditating on what else I choose to accept.
I'm sure The Lord is anxiously awaiting my decision..... ;)

No, the Lord is patient and longsuffering.  Take your time.

Paul was the fulfillment of Psa 109:8  Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

Not according to Acts 1:20.

Personally, I wish Psalm 109:8 would be fulfilled in Obama.

Peter made a mistake. Just like he did when Paul confronted him face to face. Peter was to blame. Peter hadn't received the empowering of the Holy Ghost. He was told to wait at Jerusalem UNTIL, he received that gift. He didn't. He stood up and decided to take matters into his own hands. Christ hand picked every member of the 12. EVERY MEMBER. If Christ wanted to replace Judas.... right....THEN...

CHRIST HIMSELF would have done it after his resurrection and before the ASCENSION. We are talking about just a few days later Peter gets a bright idea to do it himself. Seems Luke acknowledged that Matthias was a part of the Twelve:

Acts 6:2

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

Luke also acknowledged that Paul was commissioned by Christ in Act 9.  We also see Ananias, Luke, and Barnabas attesting to Paul's call.

Come on! You know you are supposed to pick and choose so that the text says what you want it to. It's also helpful to read it out of context and/or make up definitions to help make your point. ;)

What if I don't take that as God breathed...I'm still meditating....So He could be anxious or not...depending on what I decide is God breathed.

Or simply declare it not inspired!  :)

So The Book of Acts is inspired?

If so, Luke quotes Jesus on the Road to Damascus...which gives credence to Paul's apostleship.
Bummer!

Gotta hate it when facts get in the way of perfectly good assumptions

IMHO, it is inspired. Though I will not say "verbal and plenary" or "inerrant" unless we use very liberal definitions of those terms. But it is all stuff God wants us to know, and all the books in the canon belong there.
